Cooled Seats

Hi All, can anyone please agree or disagree that its normal to get a slight vibration / noise coming through when activating the seat cool function, on the few times that I've used mine I notice the noise and vibration from the motors, appreciate any feedback, thanks

I hear a hiss/woosh coming from the dash area, getting louder with higher settings. But don’t have a shake

Mine are pretty noisy when turned right up.

I was looking forward to this feature but found them disappointing…..haven’t used them for ages.

The ventilated seats can have up to nine fans in them…I’m sure all of those fans rotating (especially on high) will create a small degree of vibration and sound.

Since they were designed to help with evaporating moisture from either body sweat or dampness from rain/snow/etc…they do work but not like some have imagined in their minds or if they owned cars that have seats that are actually “cooled” by being connected to the cars HVAC system.

If you’re on a long trip in hot humid weather…the ventilated seats can keep you from sticking to the seat (swamp butt/back)…or if you get caught in a rain storm and you’re shirt/pants/jacket are wet, you can turn on the fans to help evaporate the excess moisture…as well as turn on the seat heaters if you start to get chilled from the evaporative effect.

Thanks for the detailed response, I agree that most of the vibration is felt when switching on and them getting to the cooler temperature

Here in the Phoenix area I have my Climate App (not climate control under iD7) automatically kick the fans in (setting on low) when greater than 70 degrees or heat (setting on low) when below 50 degrees.

On the cooling side as per other threads the BMW solution doesn't have any piped AC air vs some other manufacturers whom build that way. So it's just about air movement and at low pretty negligible noise. Set to medium or high and there comes the fan noise. Also the vibration can be felt as one moves around in the seat. There was one older thread in which a M8 owners passenger seat fan (or fans) were defective so the vibration was more than it should be. That was fixed under the OPs warranty.
