WE did Chinese last night, the wife had an urge.
House fried rice, beef/broccoli, sweet/sour chicken.

2 hours after dinner, blood was 335. +10 units insulin.
Woke up at 12:30, 289, +9 units
5:30, 269.

WTF, an additional 19 units of insulin (14 is a normal meal) didn't put a dent in my Chinese blood sugar. I didn't even eat THAT much fried rice.

I have neither and still stopped eating it. Felt like crap too many times after eating Chinese food and figured out that's not a good sign.

The first words out of the nutritionist's mouth during her CHF lecture to me at the hospital was that Chinese food is not healthy for you despite how it looks. The cooks use unlabeled bottles of mystery sauces at most takeout places in these parts, so the workers have no idea if there's MSG in the stuff no matter what the signs on the wall and menus state. Plus, a single tablespoon of soy sauce has almost 1,000 mg of sodium. For years before I went to the hospital for the first time with CHF, I almost always had heart palpitations a few hours after eating Chinese food. Heed the warning.....

I'm sure there are healthier Chinese restaurants. I was referring to the "fast Food" type Chinese restaurants.

Shrimp and pasta.

Shrimp pan seared in EVOO, butter, shallots, garlic, oregano, salt and three kinds of pepper: fresh cracked black, cayenne and red pepper flakes.

Served with salad tossed in EVOO and fresh lemon juice with freshly grated Parmesan. Fresh strawberries for dessert.

Simple and good.
