Do you mean at the airport or on a train? I would think that flying into Croatia and then taking a train up to Bavaria should be fine because they don't stamp passports on the train, they just look and verify it quickly. Hypothetically, if you're already in the EU and you're a (single citizenship) American I'd think (and hope) that you can train around as usual while following standard protocols. Then train back to Croatia and fly back to the states for your return home.

Yea, that's the one I just don't have an answer to...wish I did! This site seems to suggest it's open...but I'm seeing elsewhere not to risk it. https://www.omio.com/trains/zagreb/munich

Edit...the DB site seems to suggest mandatory quarantine measures...so I guess maybe it'd be possible to spend 14 days in Croatia. https://www.bahn.com/en/view/home/help/corona.shtml

I feel so fortunate to have done the ED in Sept 2019 (M2C, 6MT, Sunset Orange). It had been a bucket list item for a long time. Then had it US delivered via PCD so got the dual experience. At least PCD is still available.

What is the scuttlebutt on why the ED program was cancelled for US customers? Official word, I thought, was lack of US interest - but that never made sense to me.

Feb 2019, freezing, gray outside and I think I got food poisoning?!?

Still the best euro trip I've taken, autobahn drive to Salzburg, seeing the car @ the beautiful welt (my 13 year old son driving 6MT around the track) 🤫 sharing this experience with my son and dad will always be a good memory

Edit: USA spec cars has the big brake kits, no rental winter wheel set was available, option 1 drive with voided insurance or option 2 give it a hug at the welt then sign papers to have it on a flatbed to the port (+small fee)

We rented a same color almost same spec (small brakes) m2c with a winter wheel package on (bmw rental program @ the welt)

My son only drove in the indoor "victory lap" track, just a couple minutes, sorta meh for adults but for him to not stall out with dozens of people watching was awesome! he never drove manual before, just a couple videos on YouTube

Pic: my dad squeezing the free champagne and my son nervous before his mini drive (priceless)

Lack of interest/demand. Apparently was shelved before Covid.

Did you put on winter tires? If so, details. The BMW winter tire connection is saying they don't normally stock sizes for the M2C.

I checked on that as well. I feel like I've exhausted all the options. Not giving up just yet.

I am trying to see if I can secure an M2CS. That may be where I go if I can find one without a markup.

I'm really sad BMW killed the program. Glad I got in under the wire...that was a dream of mine for a very long time!

Gorgeous car, congrats!

It's sad that I'll never be able to experiece European Delivery. I'm 26 now with an MBA and very solid job. Picked up a used M4. Was hoping to buy a new M3/M4 in a few years (until front was morphed into some ugly... creature) and was always looking forward to being able to afford the European Delivery...

I'm living vicariously through your post!

Family is allowed. At least for Switzerland.

Consider getting dual citizenship for them.

Really sad to hear that BMW have cancelled this option as it always has been extra fun and a lovely experience for those going through it. Whatever the real cause (Covid-19 or not) behind it may be, I do hope that it will be re-introduced sometime in the future as you never know.

Totally bummed they scrapped the program and now wishing I had chose different for the delivery of my M850i. I considered it but but figured I'd definitely do it on the next car. The discount off of MSRP pays for the trip and if you just flew in/out and had a hotel night or two you could actually save some money. However, that wasn't my plan but rather to parlay the experience into more time spent in Germany as well as hit a few other spots in the EU.

Nope, no difference from the 2020. From what I have seen in the past few days I do not see any changes.
Congrats, lovely car. Black looks so good on the 8 series. And that interior is 👌🏽

Aside from OP's means of entry into Germany (I guess that mystery has been solved), what I find interesting is that this is, at least as far as my limited knowledge goes, the first instance of a BMW ED zoll plate that ends with an "E". So far, "Z" seemed to have been the rule. Apologies for a slight digression, couldn't help noticing.

I noticed as well. Also, first number I've seen in the 3000s. They certainly aren't done by number...because there is no way Munich has had 3000+ EDs this year!

Yes, even the BMW rep was surprised to see that plate on my vehicle.

They now rescheduled me for October 29th.
Europe COVID cases are picking up again due to social distancing fatigue. Best bet would be to get the vaccine if it's available by the end of next month.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-54189575

Once Oktoberfest was cancelled back in March, I canned my planned ED #4 as my past 3 ED's always had 3 days of Oktoberfest prior to ED — glad I did, as the waiting, delays and travel restrictions is too much to deal with for a 'relaxing' vacation.

My gut feeling is that BMW NA is going to have to give you all rain checks for a future ED in 2021 and beyond. Only way travel restrictions will be loosened is either once vaccine is prevalent within the world population and/or treatment.

I'd love a rain check...but I don't think they'll do it...or can depending on how emissions regulations impact ED cars. I did ask Raven this week if BMW had indicated when they intended to cut off all the EDs and tell us to take our cars as they are or pound sand...she said nothing on that front as of yet.
