I bellieve there is also active roll stabilization front and rear as well. It has moved upmarket, whether we it or not...and it's not just a badge change .. which was what happened when the 3 series coupe became a 4.
Actually the original E31 had AHK (Aktive Hinterachskinematik) which was rear wheel steering My 850CSi has it, as did all Euro spec 850CSi, NA spec however didn't.

The F01/02 and F07/10/11 also had it available and their G series replacements have it as an option too.

My F01 has it and it's many years old.

To me this car looks like a 2015+ Mustang : am I just seeing things but the green house and rear 1/4 glass and the rear end, plus the lower part of the front fascia. I'm not really liking this thing.

Excellent.. so this is for the most part , tech that has been on the 8er before... I can't recall at this point if it is standard on the new 8er .. . but if it is (as opposed to being optional ) that pretty much exactly dovetails with my comments that the car hasn't just been moved upmarket via a badge change..

Clearly some of the design ideas you like were not utilized ... but the very definition of concept is that not all items are intended for the final design

In other words - a concept isn't the final design.
You are correct in the abstract but BMW called the later concept vehicles "near production", so a strong similarity can be assumed.

It's actually a couple inches shorter than the 6-Series coupe was, and 6" shorter than a MB S-class coupe. It looks longer than it is because it's low and wide.

Actually as much as 7 inch 1/2 or 19 cm. Even the 8 GC might not be as long as the S Coupé.

Because quad tips are supposed to be for M cars! That's why they go with square shaped ones for M Performance vehicles

Consider it wishful thinking then. Since my "assumption" that BMW will turn every desirable concept cars into a boring production model is proven to be consistently spot-on.
