I love the look of this car, it's soo wide and shorter than the current 6. Although I agree the rear is not great any dark colour will cover that up. The proportions look spot on and once there are big discounts and 0% I'm all in.

Too much going on in design but still not bad.

Woooooow.... BMW continues to disappoint with their design language!

First... Their flagship 7 Series is super bland and generic looking and now their "Halo Car" looks like Frankenstein from the rear! I mean it is sleek and decent from the front and side but looks like a refreshed 6 Series!

I am by no means a BMW hater either. I've owned 3 in the past decade. With my F01 having been in my garage for years. Sure I've had to pay a handful of repairs since it's outta warranty (nothing astronomical) but it is truly a timeless design with still plenty of 'road presence'. No car payment is always nice. But nothing has just wowed me from the brand outside of the i8.

Why do their concepts always get lost in translation??? I mean take a look at the original concept here which is sexy AF!

I'm sorry but if I'm in the market for a V8 powered 2 door GT for $100k, my money is going to Lexus and their sleek, stylish sexy, LC.

What a missed opportunity - why even bother to present a concept when it gets watered down in reality. The original 8 series coupe was pillarless as is the concept. Why did that not make it into production -weight savings? Mercedes S560 is much more elegant than this. Too much going on with that rear bumper - yuck

Yup, it is. It should look like fine ass on a female, only curves, no holes or cresses.
A female with no holes or creases?

:
I meant the rear needs better curves, car has too many holes and sharp edges, so picture a fine ass with pants on, ignore her holes.

The rear end is so tall that they needed to use a bunch of tricks to reduce the visual height. Like all of the horizontal lines, the thicker than normal ducktail, the giant license plate holder, and more of the contrast color diffuser. I guess they were successful at that, but it ended up looking too busy.

If everything above the small design line that runs horizontally across the grey part about 2mm above the werkstestwagen sign was painted white it'd look great.

cress. [kres] - NOUN -
a plant of the cabbage family, typically having small white flowers and pungent leaves. Some kinds are edible and are eaten raw as salad

methinks you may not understand what a concept is...

con·cept. [ˈkänˌsept] NOUN

an abstract idea; a general notion.

"structuralism is a difficult concept" ·
[more]

synonyms: idea · notion · conception · abstraction · conceptualization · theory · hypothesis · postulation · belief · conviction · opinion · view · image · impression · picture

1)
•a plan or intention; a conception.

2)
•an idea or invention to help sell or publicize a commodity.
3)
•(of a car or other vehicle) produced as an experimental model to test the viability of new design features.

4)
•philosophy
an idea or mental picture of a group or class of objects formed by combining all their aspects.

Clearly some of the design ideas you like were not utilized ... but the very definition of concept is that not all items are intended for the final design

In other words - a concept isn't the final design.

and pricing it 22k higher and then getting any metallic or interesting paint will cost an arm and a leg. and then you get the porsche style of options to tack on another 20k. 650i coupe started at 89k while this commands 111k and will go for closer to 130k at most dealers.

im not their buyer so my opinion doesnt matter but ill bet in 3 years these things will be CPOs at 60k

Looks like the 8 will look best in black or darker colors.

There is definitely more engineering and tech in the 8, beginning with 4 wheel steering.. has that ever been implement on a bmw before ?

I bellieve there is also active roll stabilization front and rear as well. It has moved upmarket, whether we it or not...and it's not just a badge change .. which was what happened when the 3 series coupe became a 4.
