I've got a C7Z06 and an interesting thing happens with those cars. Anyone seriously doing track time actually sells the carbon ceramic brakes and goes to race spec iron brakes. This is because carbon ceramics do actually wear out relatively fast when used in race situations and the running costs are not in line with the benefits. So, with those cars, affordable carbon ceramic brake take-offs with little mileage were actually easy to find ($5-6K when I believe dealer pricing is similar to the BMW ceramics).
Doubt that same thing happens with the M8's. |

Couple posts here discussing affordable CCB take-offs. Please buy with care...
Take-offs usually run around $8k a set and the problem is that they are often beat-up. Coming from accident cars a lot of shops don't understand how delicate CCB rotors are. They easily chip (people need to be careful even swapping wheels without hitting the rotors) or have scratches/gouges which in some cases can destroy the rotors if some CCB material comes off and logs itself into the pad. MB uses the same set of CCB's on all their models apart form the AMG GT Pro/BS. That makes it easier to search for take-offs. MB uses Brembos like BMW. I assume that this is similar to BMW so M5 brake kits should bolt on to M8's, perhaps apart from some brackets/bolts, etc. This may make the search easier. But I wouldn't buy anything that doesn't look pristine on high-res images... Last edited by Wolfman64; 01-15-2022 at 02:13 PM.. |

Also off topic but most people should know if you use a CC (many many do this) to buy a cell phone you get insurance as well. I've seen 1 to 3 years coverage just for buying with the CC.

1. Circular wear marks (good indicator) 2. Weight (more accurate) But the most likely purchase will be a F90 take-off and wear will not really come into play... |

Hello Mr. Deans. I did not forget about the brake estimate. I got confirmation that BMW will not release any carbon ceramic parts for your vehicle. They are only released by VIN numbers that already have them due to the computer systems with the brakes. Sorry I would have loved to do them for you. Unfortunately it is not possible. Best Regards

BMW seems rather controlling of cars they don't own anymore after they are sold.
I've seen this with other things too. They seem to act as if they still own the car. |

Just wait till all manufactures start following Tesla where everything is installed you have to pay monthly to use it.

If it's a pricing exercise, here's a start. Non discounted list prices... Rotor Front Rt 34-11-7-991-106 $4415.73 Rotor Front Lt 34-11-7-991-105 $4415.73 Rotor Rear Rt 34-21-7-991-108 $4519.56 Rotor Rear Rt 34-21-7-991-107 $4519.56 CCB Calipers Front, Rear Lt, Rt, expect about $1300 to $1500 a pop. There a number of parts than make up the complete calipers sets Worth double checking the steel/CCB rotor dimensions to see if the stock calipers will work. Easy to respray/decal... Pads $400 - $500 full set So I think the dealer will list this at $25k plus labor (non-discounted). The good thing is that the part numbers match the F90 M5, so M5 take-off brakes should do the job if you can find a pristine set. Good luck! |

So 25k to buy the parts and only 9k to order when new. Wow I got some deal on them then. I don't understand the huge spread in price?? WTF is BMW up to? Add on: I knw there is the setting for the brakes for comfort or sport. Could that be it? |

Another $1200 or so for install. It's not too bad. Already confirmed with Getbmwparts that it works for M8.

Well I can really only add as I've said above someplace, they are great brakes.
Best I've ever owned or used/tried. I love the dustless aspect the most I think. Clean wheels all the time. The performance is incredible imo. |

CC's shine on the track and are amazing for those endurance runs, but if you are not sponsored or have lack of funding they don't make as much since because track use is where CC's get actually wore down. Street use, just don't forget to warm them up a bit, they have worse cold braking performance than steels, until they get warm.
