I love me some GT500 exhaust sound(s).... those things are ridiculously aggressive in tone and decibels.
As for the race, not shocked at the results at all.

If I am not mistaken the GT500 is rated at 3.5 sec from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph). Thus considering the M8 comp does even better to begin with than its specs say, PLUS the fact that it launches incredibly well (to be seen and noticed on many car reviews especially for those who do not own one and cannot enjoy it live), the outcome should be quite obvious and expected as it shows.

The M8 is amazing, but I'll take the GT500 for the price of an M440 please.

Like many have mentioned, you're not going to find one of these Mustangs for under $100K after options and markups. The idea in riding around in a $100K+ Ford with the fit & finish of a Hertz rental car seems ludicrous.

I kept my eye on the GT500 as I was making my way down the shortlist that became my 2020 M850i. One did not exist but I did check out a GT350. Ultimately I wanted more luxury than it could offer and expected the same with the GT500. Also tech wise aka Infotainment although SYNC has made many strides over the years it cannot touch iDrive 7 whatsoever. Plus the B&O audio couldn't even come close to touching the B&W in the 8-series.

I picked up the M8 pictured here beginning of Nov with a cap cost just over $100k USD, which is about what these Mustangs are marked up in SoCal. I can't confirm what they actually sell for. The M8 is a porker. I'm sure the stang is a lot more fun to drive.

PS: I'd love to see one of your own pics (vs. this stock pic)... it's such a lovely color—we'd all be interested. Perhaps one with your hand in a thumbs-down posture in front of the gauge cluster to signify your dissatisfaction. Like this but the opposite. My obvious sarcasm aside: I have the GC and find it sheds its weight in the twisties. I've yet to track this one as I did my my M5s, AMGs, RS7s, etc. but my prediction is it'll hold up (for a fatty that is as my old WA plate will attest). |

I'd bet the resale on the GT 500's are better than our beloved 8 series...

Going to have the opportunity to work with an actual BMW software calibrator. Everything has been done locally in Germany so far and I'm going to be the first remote test subject. Figuring out a logging/tuning platform first. Very excited as the car feels pretty slow to me and can use a wake up.

Where I'm feeling the gap is TCU tuning (hence the comment above) but, so far at least, that appears to be eluding the best of the tuners worldwide. I'd dearly love to be wrong if your guys are ahead of the game? |
