Shipping Time

Anyone know how long the shipping process is to New York for an M8? Been in transit for a while now on the BMW tracking website. If anyone has any past experience with timing that would be super helpful and greatly appreciated.

Its quite variable based on number of ports at call on the way for offload and onload of vehicles. With your car VIN you should be able to get very specific dates by searching on the shipping company website. Alternatively contact BMW and ask them for the name of the vessel your car has been loaded onto and then you can track the vessel. Range would be 2-5 weeks once your car is loaded.

Keeping it up to date wasn't a priority in my experience--its status changed from 'unclear whether it was on a boat or on the way to a boat' to 'delivered' in one night. Of course, that's exactly how you make customers happy by exceeding their expectations (as long as you didn't piss 'em off in between). It worked on me like a charm.

Most of the shipping companies are no longer allowing to search by VIN number (as per my experience as I patiently waited for my two orders of a M850i to land). The best bet is to reach out to your SA as they can pull the latest data. That said knowing the NA shipping routes after my experience your M8 will land first as the NE is the first stop vs in my situation here in AZ it was several stops plus going through the Panama canal before landing in Long Beach CA.
