Morning, close to securing a 2022 from a BMW dealer and they are trying to have me extend the warranty - I am on the fence. Coming from an M6GC I had NO warranty for 5 years with zero issues - oil changed every 2500, set of tires, set of brakes.
Dealer is telling me the maintenance will cover a brake job, wipers, spark plugs, and oil - (I remember the days when this was all a part of the 4/50!). And that the brakes COST 1500 per axle, which I am struggling to believe. I have a phenomenal indy 5 miles away from my house who has done everything on the M6 and I will get a quote today. Otherwise, is this really worth it - or considering, am I just paying BMW the same amount (or more) that I would typically give my mechanic? Is the m850 brake job really 3k? Hard to believe it would be more than the M6 we just came from (non CCB) |

THANK you. Figured as much, indy would be 4-500 for labor, a few oil changes and I am at 2500 to him as opposed to the dealer over the next few years.

You should push the dealer to add the CPO 1 year warranty extension to the remaining factory warranty.
New BMW should be covered by 3 year Ultimate Care which covers maintenance for first three years and you should get the remaining coverage included with your purchase. https://www.bmwusa.com/explore/bmw-v...mate-care.html |

Interesting and found that on the Ultimate Care web page. But at the top vs down in the 2017 and newer section that still states non-transferable. Once again BMW can't punch their way out of a paper bag in the digital world as the statement needs to be either in both places or just under 2017 and newer as a 2022+ is newer than a 2017.
Love this forum as learn something all the time. In fact it was the forum (technically the X5) that called out the change on the 2017s with the watered down maintenance vs 2016s and older. Tried to find a 2016 on the ground for my wife's custom ordered spec (or close enough) but couldn't so ordered the 2017. Had no intention of transfer on it as a keeper (traditional financing) nor my 2020 M850i as was going to either just turn in the lease or buy it out. I chose the latter. 👍 Now the curiosity on the "why" BMW changed. Perhaps due to the used car market insanity in 2021 and 2022 so they figured it would help with sales on CPOs, etc.? Now we just need BMW FS to bring back the negotiable RV on a lease. 😜 |
