Interesting, I'm surprised the GT got that much jump off the line. I suspect that the results would be a bit different on a proper drag strip where the Demon could hook up better.

I can't get past the way the new GT sounds. I miss the old days.
This is an original GT-40, circa 1966. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKn2IFdTQvU&t=54s

Nothing like the sound of a big American V8 racing engine running flat out, in this case Fords vicious 427 side oiler racing engine. Powered the 40 to whoop Enzo's best at Le Mans.
Had the pleasure to watch an original GT40 running fast laps at Watkins Glen some years ago. What I would give to get laps in one.

Exactly why I'll never understand the dumb V6 in this version. Stupid choice.

This new GT sounds, Oh-- I don't know---cold. Technical and precise. The original was angry and loud and spoiling for a fight. The modern version reminds me of the Terminator. No heart, no emotion, just a mission.

Size, weight, emissions and mileage to name a few.
While I'll always love that 7 liter brute I realize the times they are a changing and for 'street' sports cars the days of 427,428ci monsters are pretty much waning. The previous Ford GT with its small block 5.4 V8 was a beast hopefully this new one with the 6 will carry the torch proudly, I bet it will

Meh. They don't build enough GT's to make that argument work. It could have a BRM H16 and not really impact Ford's numbers.

Just seems like Ferrari making a 4 cylinder Dino or Honda making a hybrid NSX with an automatic. Oh, wait.

You people and engine sound. Geez.

Some questions:
- How much faster of a 0-60 time does great engine sound get you?
- How much faster around [insert favorite racing track here] does great engine sound get you?
- How much higher of a quarter-mile trap time does great engine sound get you?
etc, etc. etc. ...

As for the 'proper drag strip' quip: Yeah, that's where most of us would drive either of these cars 99.9 percent of time. Sure. I see now. Got it.

:: sigh ::

I think its a fair test because they're both running on a runway that hasn't been worn in from the looks of where they're launching from

Yes, that was a surprise to me sorta. Then you'll have all the people asking about the tires, temps, gas etc.

So regarding engine sound....where's your soul man>

I commented on drag strip only that I think the Demon would be in it's element there, and I'm not taking anything away from the GT because I think that it's a monster and if I had the means it would be on my short list. There is a huge price delta though, almost $400K. I was a bit surprised by the GT's thrashing of the GT, and I think on the proper strip with someone who knows how to drive it the Demon would have made a better showing.

Just my two cents....

Basically,

The GT can do a whole bunch of tricks the Demon cant, and still beat the Demon at its own game!

Damn!

In my younger days the KZ1000 was the hottest thing on the planet. "Mad Max" was playing in theaters and I had to have one. Mind-blowing fast. Point a to point b in no time. It was cool for a while, racing around with my hair on fire, but it got old. That's all that bike was good for. I bought a Harley and discovered I could enjoy the journey from point a to point b. Big difference. Point is, faster, quicker numbers are not everything. The sound of the v-twin rumbling underneath you is something too....Same as the sound of a big 'ol FE with all eight barrels wide open. There's just something about that deep bellow/choppy idle that makes the ride a little more enjoyable. Rush had a hit about this very concept - "Red Barchetta".

Your post should be standard reading for all fans of S55 who balk at the N55 m2

It reminds me.of the story of the father bull and his son standing at the top of the hill,

the son goes "Pop! You see those cows over there?! Lets run down there and fuck one of em! "

Papa bull says "Lets walk down there...and fuck 'em all.. "

This..

A proper track is all the advantage for the Demon.
It can easily run into the low 9’s....
