Video: New Fi Exhaust installed in my M850i

Hey everyone, so I finally installed the Fi Exhaust. I’m really happy with it. Details in video, including sound clips. I recommend listening on something that’s better than a crappy phone or computer speaker. Bluetooth into car or another decent audio system

I’m planning to make more videos with this new exhaust

^ Thanks! I got another video with some revs and pulls that I will post soon. The only thing I didn't capture on video yet is the cold start with the valve open. It's definitely loud, but not insanely loud. But it's loud enough that I'll probably keep the valve closed if I have to head to work early

First few minutes of this video I've got more sound clips with the exhaust with valves open and closed.

And I'm also pondering a tune.......

^ Well, at this point it's between a) Nothing, b) actually going forward with the Femko, or c) Racechip

The nice thing about tuning is you can eliminate CEL from downpipe, which I believe you can't do with Racechip

Of course but then you have to ship out your ECU and wait

But with the M8's we can pull our secondaries with no CEL issues.

RC is a simple plug, play, walkway thing that is good on 91-93 octane.

If you want to add more sound to the front of the car, I recently installed the CTS Turbo intakes and they really wake up the front. Purchased from mike@x-ph.com Fairly cheap modification and easy install that really shows off the turbo sound.

Do you still have the active grills? When they are close, do you feel any loss of power?

Yes, I do have active grills, but I don't see how the active grills would make a difference when it comes to intakes. They would open just like stock, which is when the car needs more cooling. The sensors are not touched when you change from stock to CTS.

The way the closed stock intakes are designed, the air is routed to flow through a specific area, which is exactly where the CTS intakes line up. No power loss detected. I tested the intakes when stock and also with the various stage tunes. Only difference is much better sound.

^ Question: when you replace the intakes, does it change the kind of air filter that you have to use?

The intakes come with their own air filter.

I have the Race Chip black. I like it very much. Really it works without noticing it's there. Quite seamless and adds a load of power. I actually feel it's increased my mileage but I haven't documented that. Just a feeling.
Many settings on it too.
Anyway I'm glad I got mine. Plus it pops off for dealer visits. They've never said about one thing in 3 years too me so it seems non-detectable as Race Chip claims.

They typically won't say anything until something major happens because there's no reason to lose a customer over nothing.

They can track everything by looking at boost numbers. This was confirmed on a few threads by BMW mechanics. There's a lengthy thread on this on Reddit and confirmed by the Service Advisors.
Anything that's outside of the typical threshold can be claimed as having a tune/piggyback.
