Interesting to see Competition as a package.
Not a stand alone model of M8.

I really love BMW and my previous garage is proving my claim, but TBH if I want to pay 140k, I would consider other options...

8-er Prices

Remember folks, 8-series pricing can be (very) different in different countries. This configurator is for Switzerland--where very high taxes are applied to luxury cars.

Nowhere near this expensive in the N. American (or other) market, for example. So, it's OK to go ahead and order one!

Cheers ED

The car looks awesome.

And yes the price is high but that config is fron swiss website so the price is pretty normal for EU countries in general. Taxes here on this type of cars are so high that basic 840 costs somewhere around 120k USD.

Not really, taxes in CH are low but margins are high 😀

But, I guarantee you, you can get above 20% (23% is quite normal) off the configurator price. Still, I find it expensive compared to the M5.

Wait you get 23% from your dealer? Gotta talk with mine again, he told me he can do about 18% (I'm in Switzerland as well). I wasn't talking particularly about the M8 though, but about the X3 M and the 8 series in general.

You can get 18% easily, everyone can do that. For more, you either have to push them really hard or just to work in some of the big companies which have deals with them (UBS, CS, Zurich, AXA etc. pretty much 50% of their customers work in some of those companies, they get 23%, no negotiation needed). I even officially complained about this different treatment of customers, one of their directors called me after that, told me I'm not the first one to complain...

What I also know is that for series 8 they are giving larger discount than usual, they know that the car is overpriced. Not sure what their policy for M8 will be.

Also, if you buy a car from a stock, you can also get above 25%.

Well that's probably my problem, since I work in a small consulting company. But yes, friend of mine works for UBS and he told me about the large discounts they got from Mercedes, Audi, BMW etc. The different treatment is indeed pretty unfair, but well that's free market economy I guess.

The ad says $133k in US for base model so probably over 150k for well equipped Coupe in US

I would pick this over any competitor. The S63 makes me feel like i'm 40 years old while the current SL63 is on it's way out. I can't say the words Aston and daily car in the same sentence, Maseratis are a disaster waiting to happen and the 911's backseats are meant for people without heads. The Lexus looks and sounds better but falls behind when it comes to tech and comfort. The only car in this segment that's better than the 8 series IMHO is the new Panamera based BCGT - but the 8 series is almost as good for a whole lot less $$$.

Merc is coming up with a direct competitor to this car with the R232 SL. It'll be lighter with an AMG GT platform and have 4 seats to give the 8 a run for its money.

FYI 8's tear seats are nearly as useless as the 911's despite its robust looking size. It lacks head room (except for kids) and legroom (except for legless).

I have 12% standard discount "Flottenrabattt" over my company. You don't have to work in a bank.. I think 25% off are possible in switzerland.

The big companies usually have more than 12% "Flottenrabatt".

Combined with other discounts I think 18-20% are normal, 25% could be hard (if you don't have the big "Flottenrabatt" from UBS, CS, Allianz Suisse etc.), but you never know.

Exactly, and that's IMHO the missed opportunity, they could have gained a real advantage here.
