Advice Needed: Dealer put wrong mileage on work order & inspection

Greetings: I have a six-year-old car with only 20,370 miles on it, and have been considering selling it. It's a high-dollar car (a European semi-exotic) and I've maintained it in as-new condition in every regard. Yesterday I had the dealer perform an oil change, wheel alignment, and state safety inspection on this car, and when I got home I noticed they had marked "27,003 miles" on the work order and on the 'multi-point inspection report' as well.

As I mentioned, I'm planning on selling this car. In the three years I've owned it, I've only put 2,900 miles on it. Meanwhile, Carfax, AutoCheck and other services will record the wrong information if the dealer has provided it, and it will later register as an 'odometer discrepancy' --both of which will materially affect the value of the car. Few people will believe it's just a simple mistake, even though it is. Most buyers simply skip over offerings which present issues like this.

The dealer said they'll fix the work order and produce a new copy for my records. I asked about the reporting services and they said they'll fix that 'if it happens'. I can't see how it can be avoided, but does anyone know how often such data is reported to CarFax et al? Can the damage from this kind of error be prevented if caught in time (I did catch it the same day). Is there something specific the dealer needs to do? I have no confidence in their being pro-active on this matter. It's just not very high on a typical service dept's daily priorities.

Thanks for any perspectives and/or advice.
