2020 M850i Coupe Production

Does anyone know production status for the 2020 M850i coupe? My local dealer must have 15+ M8s, but no M850i's. There's also nearly nothing listed on Autotrader, which leads me to believe that they've dramatically scaled-back production because of 2019 leftovers, deep discounts, and/or the launch of the M8, 840i and Gran Coupe variants. Thanks.

I assume that they are a waiting for 2021 at this point.
Discounts on the 850’s were even more brutal than on the M models.

18.5% off mine could have gotten 20%+ but wanted HP cooling/tire & white/black/carbon, also latest prod mo. No trade.

Agree with Wolfman64 that you're likely waiting for 2021 in August at this point. Background being when I finally decided to pull the trigger on a M850i coupe last July I was told I needed to wait until August to custom build a 2020. When the allocations for the US came out in August there was a total of 5 M850i coupes. That spoke volumes to me as to the manufacturing priority of the 8-series variants for 2020.

My dealer didn't get an allocation but since they are part of the Penske Automotive group they were able to horse trade with another dealership that did. Of course as posted likely too many times that build was nullified by BMW's issues with Driving Assistance packages. My dealer was able to make the case and get me another allocation and I finally took delivery of that in December.

Right now there is a total of thirteen 2020 M850i Coupes on the ground at US dealerships and my guess that is the end of the road until 2021 orders open up in August. That assumes BMW doesn't axe the coupe as per all of the recent news articles on the subject. Thus, the best case scenario is finding an existing 2019 or 2020 that meets your needs.

The irony on my end is the M850i is my first foray into the leasing world and thanks to the knowledge learned from Bimmerpost the MSDs were the deciding factor. Granted not as good as the yesteryear MSDs for maximum rate deduction but even with the current program and max of 7 it reduced the APR to 2.23% vs the BMWFS rate of 3.35%. The plan of record is to buy out the car at the end of lease if a M8/M8C CPO at the time does not match my requirements. I'm already assuming the residual will be a joke so I have a close friend committed to buy the car if need be.

Also worth noting, is the CCA rebate which I missed out on with the wife's X5 but took advantage of with the M850i. Just checked the website and my submission was approved so a $1200 bonus ($1500 rebate minus the 3-year membership to ensure qualification). Once again all knowledge gleamed from Bimmerpost I am thankful for.

Hi All, I live in MD and I'm interested in doing a 840i xDrive GP build in March 2020. While speaking about allocations, one dealership in my area had 3-4, 8 series coupe & gran coupe combination in stock. But they said allocations were not that readily available- even more so for the gran coupe. Although, I feel I have enough power in the 840i GP, I really like the M850i - but cost jump.

You guys think the M850i will see an increase in discount vs the 840i GP?

Some have reported allocation constraints with the X5 M50i too so constraints on the M850i may be due to the engine.

My dealership said no more discounts on the M850i because they are hard to get.

They are willing to make deals on the 40 or true m8; but the M850i is a no deal, full price or nothing right now.

You're in an area ripe with dealers. I would shop around and even cross the bridge into MD if you really want an M850i.

I got my 2019 bmw m850i, I was thinking of swapping it for a 2020 m8; but my wife convinced me to keep all my body parts and hold on to the m850i a bit longer.

That is the LOL moment of the day and much needed after a grueling day in the office.

Assuming you mean 2020 M850i's as there are a lot of 2019s (over 50 still on the ground in the US).

Sorry, but I don't know what a GP is?
As others mentioned look for leftover 19 M850's. The diff between the feeling behind the wheel of an 840 vs an 850 is night/day, although the BMW inline 6 is still a sweetheart of an engine.

Same here even google searched it thinking somehow I missed a 8 series variant or some special production model ala first edition, etc. Guessing the OP means GC.

LOL.
With approx 610 real hp vs the 523 advertised, you probably don't need an M8 unless you intend to track it...they do look a bit nicer though.

I was unable to order the 2020 M850i coupe all of last Fall, but my dealer received an allocation last month. The car goes into production within a few days with a scheduled delivery of late March or early April. It has been a long wait and am very much looking forward to taking delivery. Tanzanite blue exterior, full leather ivory white interior, carbon roof, carbon trim, driver assist ZDA and ZDY, cooling and high performance tire package, glass controls, alcantara, B&W sound. Can't wait!

You've got a fantastic car coming your way and know all to well the wait for delivery will seem like a lifetime! Enjoy the drive when it lands.

Bloozeman, your advice on these boards has been invaluable to me, including avoiding the ZDX package and the problems with your cerium eradication. I ordered the cooling and tire heating package to ensure the shadow line trim throughout the car, as ordering the parts individually would have been as costly. I will post pictures when the car arrives. Much thanks.

Glad to have helped and in turn returning the favor on all of the knowledge I have gained from the forum as well.
