King or California King?

Im buying the Avocado mattress soon and im debating between a regular king or california king. I like the added height of the Cal king so im leaning that way since width is less of an issue. Anyone else go for one or the other? If so, why?

If you’re real tall, go for the California king so your legs don’t hang over the bottom edge. If you’re not that tall, having a wider bed is better for some fun.

Even at 6'1" I went for Cal King. Sucks when we stay places with queen or regular King.

Regular king unless you need the length. More bedding options and the bed frame itself too. I tend to sleep at an angle anyways so the width helps more than the length.

Unless you’re super tall, I’d go with King.

Go and check the price/availability of cal king sheets vs king sheets.

We went doubles in our guest & kids rooms rather than queen because (here) sheets for double beds are significantly cheaper than Queen or King.

Otherwise, bigger is better!

Do NOT get a split king, of either size. Sheets are specialty order, if you want them to match.

I have about around 1.5 to 2 inches of head room. I keep the seat all the way down.

I'm 6'4" and prefer the proportions of a regular king. Unless you are over 6'5" and sleep with your legs straight out CA king provides extra length you won't need.

Also think about whether one or the other fits / looks best in the room.

It's all the same height when you're laying down.

Well as we know, the California King is longer than it is wide as opposed to a "regular" king which is nearly square. This is due to Californians being taller than they are wide, as opposed to, say, those on the east coast.

To explore this theory let consider the following;

Have you ever heard the lyrics "I wish they'd all become New Jersey girls" or "I wish they'd all become a Carolina girl", "I wish they'd all become Maryland (ie: SMIBS) girls", or (and I shudder to think) "I wish they'd all become Georgia girls"?

No!

The lyrics are, "I wish they'd all become California girls."

And you know why?

(Come on, admit it, you already know why...)

You always get a California King because then when your neighbor, cousin, or sister sees your bed, then looks at you (or your spouse ), they'll think "hey, maybe he/she isn't as fat as I thought," and "maybe they are better in bed than I realized. Damn, I'm gonna git me sum to-nite as soon as I get drunks enough to ask."

NEVER - EVER - get a "regular" king because - "regular" ain't right (nor is it regular either).

I wonder how many people on this forum from Missouri just ordered a California King bed?
