It's inevitable and cars like the Model S are forcing car manufacturers to shift their focus, also because of global warming laws and regulations imposed by governments. We just gotta wait until the technology matures. The new 2018 Porsche Panamera 4E batteries will still only hold a charge for 30 miles of pure electric range and will take up to 5.8 hours to full charge the batteries. One day they are going to figure how to make the batteries smaller, lighter, 5x times the range and with much faster charging times. That's when we'll see electric M cars and probably pure electric 911's for that matter.
Indeed. However, the current crop of pure electric cars are cheaply made IMO. Not to mention the false sense of how "green" these cars are.

And what's wrong with gas? It's cheap. It lasts long. And I don't have to worry about it leaving my gas tank if I have the car parked overnight, unlike a Tesla which has parasitic loss (see: vampire drain) concerns.

That is true. The folks at Tesla used the wrong math to get their original HP number.

Congrats OP. EV are the future for sure, but the problem with them is insufficient amount of charging stations here in UK and also they're still very, very expensive to buy/finance for the majority of people. Hopefully, Tesla will build much more charging stations across Europe as well. Tesla are nearly perfect cars which just need good exhaust note to be perfect. LOL.

Well, even I would take the Tesla's exhaust note over the M4's.
