I'd probably choose a used 991 GT3, but what about a Viper ACR?

The 550 Maranello and the 599 California were among the last ones.. Not sure if they still do any now.. Unless its a special edition and very few were made.

I know, to my knowledge the 599 also was the last v12 that could be ordered with manual. The ones who did (I think 20 people or so) struck gold as those prices are going through the roof (mind you, asking prices )
I think the last manual v12 supercar that can easily be had (apart from that aston) is the murcielago. Thats fairly easy to get in manual (especially the earlier ones, quite affordable too, relatively speaking).
I think clutch wear is also less on the manuals. clutches for the v12's (of any brand) are ridiculously expensive. most things on the v12 cars are 3-4 times or so as expensive as on their lower v8/v10 models.
The manual murcielago might be a nice investment. Last lambo supercar with manual, last lambo with the bizzarrini engine. Sounds awesome, true v12 screamer.

M6 comes to mind.

You cannot buy a 991 GT3 anywhere close to $120,000.

I have seen the Mercedes just recently. Looks great, but it is tiny. I'd rather look at a SL63.

I just wanted to revisit this thread after seeing all the great feedback from you guys. Sorry to disappear!

Regarding some of the other cars mentioned such as ZO6, R8, Gallardo, Viper, etc., those are certainly all cars I've tossed around at some point but for this particular vehicle I'm looking for something more livable day to day. I look at those cars as weekend fun cars if that makes sense?

With that said, I've somewhat narrowed down my decision and I'm sooo torn right now. All out brutal speed or pure class.

'14-'15 991 Turbo
If I went this route I'd definitely do some modding. Stage 2 or 3. The speed as is, and it's potential is super intoxicating. Perhaps a few tasteful cosmetic mods (ie. GT3 centerlock wheels, GT3 nose as I'm in love with that look) That would certainly make this the more expensive option, but also the fastest car I would have owned and probably own for the foreseeable future. Future proof in that regard.

'10-'11 Aston Martin DBS
I still can't get this car out of my head even though I try. It's the only Aston I really like, I'm not sure what it is. I prefer this over the newer ones as well. I've only seen one DBS on the road and I found myself staring.

But I also can't shake the fact that I'd be buying an older, slower car with an antiquated transmission. The DBS has a timeless look however, and I'm hoping in 5 years time I'd feel the same way. I mean it'll be a 12yo design by then? Maybe I'm being nitpicky, but little things like the halogen lens refractors on the headlights/taillights really shows a car's age. But that would be the only thing I could think of.

Performance is definitely lacking, but I'd have to keep reminding myself that's not the reason I'd be choosing the DBS. Especially when sitting at light next to just about any new AMG/M, Porsche, etc. I'm competitive that way lol.

Sigh, so I don't know. That's where I stand at the moment. Friends I've asked pick the DBS. The one's who are car enthusiasts or work in the industry say Turbo. And yeah, 1st world problems I know.

I need to stop looking at photos like this whenever I convince myself to go for the Turbo...

Take a drive down to San Diego and pick up a loaded GT4 in GT Silver. Sticker is at $115.7k and allocation just released.

PM me for details if interested.

Did you get a chance to drive a AMG GT-S? I did the AMG driving academy, it lived up to all the hype. Just sitting in it and it instantly feels more special than a Turbo 911. Such a beast. Low mileage examples are around $115k now, worth every penny in my opinion. Pick up a CPO and add extended maintenance, you are good to go. I wouldn't want to think about maintenance/service prices on a DBS.

Or just a regular Gen V Viper. The ACR is really a track car. It's not built for comfort. The Viper GTS is a great combination of ridiculous capability with as much comfort as you can have in a Viper. It could be a daily driver, believe it or not. For some reason, people don't know about it, but that's really a shame. It's the last pure car still made in the world.

A GT4 is not a regular Cayman.

If it was my money, I would be flying down there right now to pick this up. Only car I would consider in this range.

I know it's not a regular Cayman, but that price makes my GT3 look like the bargain of the century. On the other hand so does the price of a loaded Carrera S/4S.

I think in this price range a 991TT would be at the top of my list. So much car for the money.

Funny sidenote hear......my neighbor runs several car insurance offices and loves to buy exotic cars (Lambo, Ferrari, Nissan GT-R, etc.) and apparently there is one car (and one car only) that Allstate will not insure. Yea, the Viper. So he had to go elsewhere to get it insured. Supposedly the reason is that Vipers are very often bought by people who have no idea of what those cars are truly capable of.

And I would still go with the Aston Martin. That DB looks awesome! Though I myself would pick a newer model......

You are not finding a 991 GT3 anywhere near $115k at the moment. That GT4 will hold its value quite well. A 991TT will depreciate like a rock.

Yes, I know all those things. I still think the GT3 is a bargain costing so little extra (and I do have a GT3 so I know how much they go for), and I'd still rather have a 991TT than a GT4.

I have nothing against the Cayman or the GT4, I just think at $115k the price is too close to other cars I'd rather have. At $90k, yes, I'd have a GT4 all day long.

Interesting. Allstate insured my Viper for less than some of the competitors!
