Carly (The coding dongle)

Hi all,

Has anyone here used the Carly dongle thing for coding?

It seems to be more user friendly than a proper coding system like Bimmercode, but I just wondered whether anyone had tried it (as the youtube reviews are conflicting).

Thanks all

M

Thanks for letting me know!

I've ordered a Bimmercode dongle thing, so hopefully that will give me the options I want.

Agreed. i bought Carly, and plugged it in. Connected to my iPhone right away. Scanned the ECU's in my 850 and told me that I could code two things - neither of which I wanted to code. the things I wanted to code? not available.

called customer service (rather I emailed them because they don't accept calls), and was told: "we're sorry, your car's software must be up the latest version, and we haven't decoded it to allow Carly to allow you to do coding. We are working on the update for Carly, and it will be available in the future."

emailed again and asked for some kind of rough estimate on availability of the update, and they responded: "sorry, we don't provide that information."

I ordered the bimmercode dongle from Amazon, and it worked immediately. did all the coding i wanted without issue.

don't waste your time or money on carly.

Bimmercode is quite easy. It's almost hard to think of something easier. That said, it's not as complete as E-Sys but E-Sys take quite a bit more effort.

Bimmercode was just updated to add many of the new features to the new code.

The only thing it can't do is the anti dazzle lights. Which is a must in rural US areas at night.
Otherwise, bimmercode is awesome.
