Actually vice versa, i.e., my first choice would be wood but outside of Piano Black nothing available on the M850i would go with my interior so I chose the CF and do love it. My comment was in regards to post calling out the trim is only on the center console (charging tray/cup holders door and around the gear box). I would have expected on the 8-series to have a bit more incorporated into the dash and door panels.

The irony now is I absolutely love the full leather interior including the dash so it is hard for me to picture the car otherwise with additional trim components. Hence, the comment was more along the lines of an expectation for the "flagship" series but overall I'd take the 8-series interior over a M5 as per my original statement.

Agreed.

Mine, too, having had both. Different worlds to my eye.

If the best you can do after what I wrote is insult me on a missing apostrophe, and then onto the "butthurt" comment (eye roll) then it demonstrates that I was right... You're a d---

Yes, you answered it. In an arrogant and pompous way.

To everyone else, thank you and I'm sorry this thread is now getting sophomoric.

I'd love to see that, too. Beyond someone bursting with Photoshop skills, I think that's unlikely but I'd love to see the two side-by-side... anyone?

I had a m6 gran coupe...

I had a m5 comp which is probably the greatest daily driver ever in my opinion. My loaded m5 was perfect.

I sat in a m8 comp.... I'm sorry it's just not worth the $ and it's already proven. 15%+ off already. The side and rear profile in the gran coupe is awkward I think.

RS7....meh, boring.

Car is slow compared to the M's.....and flashing it at the risk of voiding the warranty in a car that probably has a $40k engine shouldn't be necessary.

I'm sure it's going to look great as the barrage of available mods comes along but the performance is disappointing, agreed. I wonder if they're saving it for the no-doubt-imminent 'Performance' model....

I have time to make this decision, but I keep going back and forth on this. I have a M5 now and I'm very happy with it. I sat in a M8GC and walked around it. The car seems to be bigger, and the back seat is smaller. I'm not too impressed with the dash and the appointing. IMO my M6GC was nicer in some ways.

So if anyone has one now coming out of a M5, is it worth it? It's considerably more money. I mod my cars and I suppose it's still too new to see what it will look like lowered with wheels and other adornments.

And, the new RS7 looks pretty hot too and is in the same price range....Yes yes, I know there's a thread on that, and I'm aware it's slower...But a simple flash can help with that.

Any insight is appreciated...
Hey there! I believe I purchased your jb4 in August of last year for my 2019 M5 comp. I am now in an M8 comp (coupe). To be frank, if you like your m5 (I believe it isn't a comp?) then stick with it. If you want something fresh, go for an m5 comp if you haven't already. The M8 is an incredible car, but the M5 is a better car regarding utility, value, and so much more. The rear of the m8gc is tight, and my coupe has the back seat from a 911. Tech is great on the M8 but no seat massage. There is so much to be said here, but in a nutshell, if the m8 appeals to you, get it. But for the money and a variety of other reasons, the M5 comp is the one I'd want.

This is subjective so I'll agree to differ. I've had 5 x M5s now--the latter two of which were both F90 Comps--and I agree the M5 is better for utility (trunk, for example) but given the caliber and customer-segment of these cars, the M8 GC fits it better to my mind.

This is simply untrue--it is physically larger (because of the increased length) than the M5. The compromise is in the middle seat and trunk. The two Captain's chairs back there are no compromise whatsoever and have comfortable legroom for folks up to 6' 2" simultaneously in both the front and back seats (per firsthand experience).

Practicality- and price-wise, I agree. However, the M8 makes *me* feel special (I'm a needy kind of guy ) in a way that the M5 doesn't come close to.
