Funny enough, I like driving in formal/work shoes. I think the slick bottoms help feel what the pedal is doing. Its when I get in with tennis shoes that I lose sensations that assist with my driving feel.

I thank you for recognizing the agony we idiots put ourselves through. I think we women have a Napoleon complex, all of us. I'm taller than most, about 5 8'' or so, and it still isn't enough.

With two pedals it's easy to drive even in the most ridiculous heels, but with the third you truly need to be an idiot to go for the 12.5 cm heels. I should know. I was really late for a dinner not long ago, and I couldn't find my driving shoes and I actually wore heels till the first crossroad.

I'm sure the guy next to me will never look a pair the same way after witnessing my mild meltdown while I was moving the seat, trying to figure out how to get the torturing contraptions off my feet, pulling stockings off and finally giving up, I stepped out to do that all. I felt like a really smart individual the rest of the way there, and driving without shoes wasn't such a smart move either.

Yes, you can do it if you have any sense of moderation while shopping for shoes, but idiots like me are better off on the passengers seat.

Clunky shoes definitely get in my way. Usually just wear running sneakers. I never tried "driving" shoes. Anyone use them for track or autoX?

LOL yeah, I don't get it, since even we know (well some of us) that we are being idiots. I sure as hell know but then I see a pretty dress, the perfect shoes for it, and the thought "Now how the hell can I get to the place in these and live through a few hours wearing the" is completely forgotten.

This is a good thread. Guys when you get shit at home for buying car parts, just quote me to the spouse, and if she doesn't kill you, you have won. Either way, you can consider the outcome as a win.

The shoes I posted in this thread are similar to Bmw driving shoes and I do feel the clutch engagement nicely.

Does this mean you guys drive in Sport+ all the time? I used to heel toe in my Z06 but in the M4, I find the sport+ setting really sensitive...

When I wear most dress shoes and some sneakers my shifts get jerky. I end up having particular driving shoes like these http://m.newegg.com/Product/index?it...0F5-001Y-00GV2 but sometimes can be a bit inconvenient
Really?

Other than ski boots which I've driven in a couple of times ( slippery and stiff suckers, especially with an inch of snow and ice underneath ) I've not noticed much of a problem with MTs in different shoes. That's not to say that some doesn't work better than others, they do.

Okay. We all wear the appropriate shoe for whatever it is we are doing, work, for me dress shoes, casual, sneakers, loafers, even flip flops. When I go to the track I wear track shoes. Is this really a discussion point? I've been driving manuals since I was 14, now at 52 it doesn't really affect my abilities, I adapt. Does that help and do we REALLY have to discuss it? Isn't it obvious? When I pick up my M3 I'll let you know how it feels with each type of shoe I'm wearing, then you can analyze it and compare it to your experience. Then we all get together and discuss it.

This is great place for information and camaraderie, I found this question, a little , silly...

Yes not one of the most informative post, but was just asking. There is a lot of good bad and bs on the forums but cmon bud it was just a question. Anyways I will wait for your reviews on your shoes when you pick up your car
Congrats on the purchase
What specs you have on order?

I find that any shoes with flat, reasonably thin soles, work well.
The thinner the sole - the better, as it enables you to better sense the contact with the pedal.

Thick soles (snow boots) numb the feedback from the pedals, make it impossible to detect how hard you press them.
Supper grippy soles make it hard to pivot the foot and work the heel for heel'n'toeing.
Barefoot - just feels weird to me.

Yes, but mostly for show

And also since I bought a pair, I have to use them somewhere (soles are way too think for walking on pavement - you feel every rock and pebble).

Driving with my work boots gets annoying sometimes, the front of the boot including the soles are wide and sometimes hit the edge of the brake when pressing the accelerator. But besides that I find it really comfortable shifting with my all-star converse shoes, seems like my movements are more precise and faster.
