C8 Z06- Anyone own or driven one!!???
No judgers please LOL --- but Im kinda craving the Z06 and will be trying to find a dealer that will allow me to test it out first.
Ive watched alot of reviews and exhaust videos and when Im drinking Im very excited by it and even when Im not. Anyone here own one or have a legit experience with a test drive? Gathering some thoughts from hopefully an M8 owner who can give me some relevant comparisons.

Yup, I've driven almost all versions of the new C8, and took my brothers Z06 for about a week while he was out on travel. First off its very hard to compare it to the M8 really at all. It drives well and has the typical Chevy feel inside and it doesn't hold a candle the M8 for interior. You know my size we met before its very uncomfortable for me but funny enough I fit very will in a Cayman... lol It has what you can expect from a vet with power and sound. My brother is on warranty transmission first one decided it was getting to hot for his canyon drives and decided to quit. Everyone thinks its a Ferrari so that might be a bonus. Owners of the C7 think you are from Russia and the C7 was the last Corvette to be built.
Overall my biggest complaints is the seating in the car doesn't feel right. (I might be spoiled by Porsche here though). Steering is different, can't put my finger on it but maybe its the wheel design. It is your typical Chevy nothing to write home about but it all just works. It is fast, though I think I'd take the M4 over it which is what they typically compare too when it comes the the BMW's. Knowing your profile of rides I think you would be disappointed in ownership after the new wore off quickly. Don't get me wrong might be the best sports car bang per dollar out there.

Porsche... finds a way to make everyone feel like they are in the seat vs on it.

I'm not sure if it is a lack of feel but its hard to describe, basically you have to drive it and then you will understand. lol its wonky.

Read some of the car blog reviews about mounting on carbon wheels and issues with early blocks before you jump in to a purchase 😶. I would wait until the second model year.

While not the Z06, I owned a 2021 C8, and can tell you the drive and feel of the mid engine vette is very good. Responsive, and puts the power down well in dry conditions. The service from some of the dealerships on the other hand...very lacking. I was planning on getting a C8 Z, but after all the drama with GM and the dealership markups, I went back to BMW.
Ive owned 4 Z06 from the C5 to the C7 and can tell you those vehicles are some of the best bang for your buck out on the market. |

My favorite was probably my 09 C6 Z06. Lightweight with a 6 speed. Responds very well to bolt-ons but could get you into trouble if you're not a decent driver being rear wheel drive.
My 2015 C7 Z is a close runner for favorite. I wimped out and got the 8spd auto. Loved the batmobile look with its widebody. Pain in the ass with GM dealerships and getting tires mounted on it though. With 325's on the rear, they would always scratch my black wheels or flat out tell me they couldn't mount tires on a car their dealership sold. Maybe I just have bad luck with the local Chevy dealerships. Sad, as the C8 Z looks like a world class car that would be a steal if you get it for msrp. |
