Headrest Lighting Mod
Hi all. I see a bunch of DIY videos and instructions on how to change the wiring to have headrest lights always on while car is on.
Anyone here done this? Any feedback on how complicated it was? Any issues? Thanks. |

Can you share the videos? I've only seen one person in this forum do it, but there directions were pretty slim but they did say it was an easy mod.
In the yellow airbag module under the seat, there's a green wire (power) that needs to be attached/spliced to the red/yellow wire to keep the seat logo always on. Sounds simple until you see how many wires are down there. Wiring/soldering and the like is not my skillset |

That's a great video, though I feel there is prob an easier way to do it than running an additional wire. Last edited by Da_BatMann_; 02-14-2023 at 09:57 AM.. |

Kind of annoying the lights don’t stay on. Feels like they should be part of the ambient light setup. |

Remove the seats is the best way to work it better. By the way Lyme eyes CS/CSL model on M8 looks great and aggressive. Officially was done on M8 first edition by bmw 2019-2020. |

Very interesting. More worried about removing the seat vs moving the wire lol. And there are really no downsides? How can moving one wire make this work and not cause any other issues thats wild |

The eu version has white DRL and yellow all other conditions.
US version has yellow DRL and all other conditions. Mine are US version cause I like yellow always. In Europe streets law permit White DRL only. |

Has anyone done this without removing seat? I just slid my seat all the way back and I can see that yellow connecter pretty easily. removing it seems really hard to do

No need to remove the seat… as you mentioned just slide the seat all the way back so the yellow connector is accessible and don’t forget to disconnect the battery before switching wires

Amazing thanks! So sounds like you did this yourself? Did you have to splice the yellow/red wire and solder the green to it? Or is it possible to just push the green wire into the connection where the yellow red is without and splicing or soldering?

I’m no expert, but based on the wire location you need to move “white” one together with red/blue one
