Well my M8 Comp GC has finally found it’s home for the next several months in the shop while it undergoes surgery. Here is first pic as top side fabrication work gets started for new twin Garrett G30-770 turbo setup…as you can see this will be no small venture.

Once this turbo and exhaust plumbing fab work is done the engine will come out for forged rods and pistons while turbos and turbo manifolds get sent out for heat shielding and ceramic coating. While engine is out we will make final design tweaks to custom port injection intake manifolds

I designed and had 3D printed a few times as we evolved the design along. CAD design will then be sent out for CNC’ing these billet manifolds. Trans and transfer case will come out and go to Pure Drivetrain Solutions for their treatment. Custom brushless fuel pump will be retrofitted into stock basket and custom ice tank will be trunk mounted. Motiv Reflex system will be controlling e85/port injection setup. Front radiator and aux coolers will be replaced with CR units so we’ll see how well those work.

From the photo you can see that getting those turbos low enough to still work with stock hood will be a challenge so we’ll see if a custom “power dome” hood is in the cards or not. I’m sure there is a bunch of stuff I’m forgetting but I’ll try to keep this thread updated as it moves along.

If all goes as planned we’ll achieve the 1200+ whp goal and I’m sure find the limits of drive shafts and/or axles and/or diff on this platform. Hopefully a lot of this will help pave the way for others who decide to push beyond standard bolt on stuff currently available. Sorry for the long ass post but hopefully a few who want to push the envelope will get something out of this

Sub'd and please share your journey. I'd love to know the shops doing all the work as well. I've been sitting on the idea of buying another M8 to just rip apart for a crazy build.

I am excited to follow along as the 1100-1300whp is where I want to be as well.

Why did you choose to use an ice tank instead of running an FI Interchiller?

It was something I debated on but ultimately decided on an ice tank for simplicity and reliability. I know interchiler systems have come a long way but i have seen way too many with constant problems. A lot has to do with quality of install but there is more to it than a simple ice tank pumping water. Balancing of the inter chiller system is crucial to keeping a good functioning AC system too and there is some trial and error to getting the system working efficiently when using it on a new platform that hasn’t been dialed in yet by someone else. If there was already an application specific proven kit for F9x platform I may have went that direction. This car will be daily driven for the most part as well so long term reliability was a factor in some of the build decisions.

Sick! I'm also looking to do a similar build in the future. Can't wait to see more of your build progress. Thanks for sharing this with us.

How far out are you on intake manifolds? I’m sure there is probably enough interest that you might be able to build a few sets and maybe knock down your pricing for 1 off set.

I am curious and depending on price and availability, would be interested in a set if that is a thing.

Probably a month or so out before order goes in to have first set made. I will definitely be doing a group order on these once they are proven out on my car first or even offering them thru one of the BMW vendors if they have any interest. But I definitely want to have them installed and working on my car before trying to share with others.

Very nice will you have those coated to help with external thermals?

Turbos, manifolds and downpipes will all be sent out for full metal heat shield treatments. This setup is going to generate a lot of heat so this is a must to keep under hood temps a low as possible. Good news is the turbos were able to be tucked down low enough to have factory hood still clear when closed.

Awesome news that the turbos fit. I’m excitedly following this to see what the S63 can do.

What about the wastegates? Or will turbos have internal wastegates?

Waste gates will be directly off to the outboards side of each turbo. You’ll see them in the next update photo when the full mock-up is complete before everything comes off to go out for heat shielding.

Will be retrofitting stock basket with a brushless pump that can support both OE direct injection and port injection e85 flow volumes required. It’s a pump that I know has been used in some high hp Maclaren e85 builds and will support more hp than I will be pushing. I’ll be able to share more details when we get to the fuel system stage of the build.

Designed new front strut braces that will allow larger intake pipe size we’re going with (4”) to pass thru.

Work is already looking good, and thank you for keeping us all updated often. I know these things take months sometimes years to complete and threads easily get lost!!

Is the shop you are working with work often on BMW's or other German vehicles?? Just curious around me not many would be willing to go this deep.

Yeah they specialize in Euro platforms, primarily Audi and BMW is what I most commonly see flowing thru their shop

I see…so directly off the turbo housing. Which wastegates will you be using ?
Also, what A/R did you go with 1.01 or .83?
