Wait for a recall notice. If you just take it in, and there’s no fix for it, you could end up being without it for some time. The only way I’d take it in, is if you end up getting the emissions notification.

Emissions in no way will affect the way we drive right ? I'm sure most m8 owners heck even the m850 owners hit 100-120mph on open roads ....

I noticed this when alot of dealer websites had their M8's pulled.

One week it was at 22 and then it was down to 1 and I was like "no fucking way they sold all those ancient M8's"

LOL

Edit: and this is why I get intermittent cel's for fuel evap???

Yet ANOTHER problem with the "flagship" M8...

Won't be surprised if I have this happen during a snow storm this winter.

Seems like it's a software issue. Word is there's a program coming out on the 18th to fix it and fix will take about 1hr.

Is it just me or does something seem odd with the listed dates for the M8 coupe and convertibles? They are 2020s which should have started manufacturing in June 2019 at the earliest yet the dates include October 2018. So is this a typo or did BMW actually start building the M8s in October 2018? If not a typo I'm guessing the original launch models but even that seems illogical as anyone in the manufacturing world knows that inventory sitting in a warehouse with no chance of sale for 11 months is a no go from an inventory turnover ratio perspective. Who's watching the hen house? Or is the CFO off his rocker?

Is there an SIB number attached to this? Would be helpful in talking to CA/SA.

Thanks.

Curious, the SIB # does not show up in the mobile app version. It is there loud and clear in the desktop version.

Can you post a pic of that portion of the service order? Curious what they did. No one has even officially confirmed there is a fix, let alone had the work done yet. The only rumor I have seen is "maybe" a software fix being released towards the middle of next week.

Spoke to my service adviser who said they just do an inspection. My tech said nothing was needed and BMW didn't give any further info. I am at work but will take a pic and post it.

This is great to hear! They should just release the cars if it isn't that serious. The M cars need 1200 mile service anyway, they can do the fix during that service. Unless the issue is more serious than they are letting on.

At least from your posting on the voided warranty it definitely still applies, i.e., your void does not have anything to do with the overall bumper to bumper warranty but is rather specific.

Yes, any damage or warranty that isn't attributed to the mods will still be covered.
