The 911 should be the 000 by now given all the edges they've refined off of that one. Nonetheless, though, the performance and handling are undeniable.

Ill be honest, I expected the TTS to be the winner before entering the thread, but did NOT expect the M8 to be right behind it.

Gotta give it credit.

Agreed. Only issue with the M8 is the super car factor. It performs like one and is priced like one, but lacks the appeal of one.

Think it goes down to the 60-100 80-120km/h times. The M8 really pulls at higher speeds. That's more relevant on a track compared to 0-100km/h times for instance. Surprises me too, however.

How the Audi tunes the R8 to this slow pace with the facelift is really beyond me.

The R8 is the most exotic by far of the group. Outside of the look, it is superior to the 911 in many ways - much lighter unibody (100% aluminum since a decade ago, compared to still 30% steel with 992), mid engine layout which is more balanced, Quattro system (improved gen after gen, and is proven working so well with the Huracan), the glorious V10 (granted the new turbo s is a tad stronger with 650ps, but they're very close especially at top end).

Not that I'm trying to think the R8 is better than the 992tts because it's not. But M8? Gotta be kidding me. It's really confusing the M8 gets even close let alone be faster...

Supposedly with the CS which may explain possible 3.0TT hybrid. Remember Porsche is a 6 cylinder as well.

It's still unmistakably a 911

Very impressed with M8. I guess with the Audi it's based on a Lamborghini which have great feel and aural experience but are not track cars like Porsche and Ferrari

Good post,
The big take away Imho, is that if you want a top of the line track machine and are willing to sacrifice performance for comfort and can afford pads and tires the M8 is a great choice.

I'd agree in a general sense, but didn't the Huracan Performante pull a sub 7 minute 'Ring time?

S63 engine has always been very strong at high speeds.

just to add M8, piggy and all, it's a much newer chassis than the R8, which I would think if anything gives BMW more time to refine handling. Additionally the R8 only rocks 245s up front to 275s on the m8. My thoughts on why quicker lap times.

Between the M8 and the 911 is a no brainer for me.
While I get the 911 performance, it is still a polished form of a raw sport vehicle, while the M8 is a nice dressed, handsome, elegant performer.

The deisgn, the interior and the overall package is what I am looking for.

Actually, that's why I am a BMW fan anyway: they are the blend between sportiness, comfort and luxury together. ( ... most of them )
