Underrated as expected, 501 WHP and 549 TQ!

Does anybody know what the corrected of crank HP is with the AWD drivetrain loss?

isn't it sold as 523 hp and 553 toque? so 500 would be less; thus overrated and over marketing??

Advertised HP & TQ are measured from the crank. So factoring in a 20% driver train power loss, the car is actually pushing over 600HP at the crank.

These results are certainly awesome for the 850. I had asked those who dynoed a stock M8 if the gains from BMW's stated power have been as significant, but no data has been shared thus far.

Y'all need to stop worrying about crank hp, we have no idea what the xdrive's loss percentage is. Either way, 500+ on the most legit type of dyno is crazy impressive and the car's quarter mile time proves its power is no joke.

the calculation tool allows a selection for all wheel drive which I chose. agreed on the QM 123-124 traps... for a near 5000 lb car this is very impressive indeed.

Exactly as Car and Driver's 11.5 second quarter mile at 123 MPH is damn impressive for the M850i!

If the m850 is putting out 600hp it is a tremendous bargain comp'd to the M8 (no offense M8ers )

I could vouch for that. Also did a 3.2 0-60mph with rollout this previous summer.

The takeaway here is the wheel hp and torque. As mentioned above who knows what the drivetrain loss is for the x drive.

Either there is insignificant drivetrain loss for all v8 tt Bmw's meaning Bmw has nailed the stock crank hp and torque figures or they are all underrated by 75+ hp and torque.

Which is it?

The car's visual appeal easily wins over any dyno results. Gorgeous vehicle.

No offense but I'll still take the 8 just for the visuals alone.

I'm curious, how do you know there is a 20% drive train loss?
Is there data for this? or is this BMW specific?
I thought cars made these days lose less power loss from the wheel.
