Tire Help

Hey - I have Michelin Pilot Sport 4s on my car right now, and they are going to need replacing in 3-4 months. What's the best tire nowadays to go along with my 21" BBS FIRs?

I'd use the same tire, those are very hard to beat.

Will you ever be at the track? Lots of guys running Cup 2s as their DOT street tire, but in dry climates, not a lot of rain/wet streets.

Can’t go wrong with PS4 but pricey little biatches if you go through rubber.

No track time on this one, just daily driving.

Hey guys, i know older messages here, came across this. Are people really running the cup 2's on an M8? I was actually looking into going with the cup 2s and the tire specialist right away said, "Not an option for this car, car is just to heavy. Cups 2's are for the M2 or a Porsche size/weight type of car. The M8 would rip through cups real quick. Was that statement/information incorrect? Anyone running cup 2 on their M5/M8 coupes or grand coupes? Or any other type of car comparable?

If you want to stay super premium, then Continental SC7’s are probably the best UHP tyres around now.

I’ve swapped into Hankook Ventus S1 Evo 3’s on my 840i and found them to be excellent - interestingly they’re OEM fitment on the new RS6 performance.

Depends how you drive, your local weather conditions, and if you require your tires to last 20,000 km. If the later, forget the Cup2s. If weather, eg lots of rain, forget the Cup 2s.

I got lazy and just had the dealer replace the original set with P Zeros late last year. Next go around is definitely the 4s's.

They use Conti's at the BMW Performance Center in Thermal CA. Having spent two days there slamming M2,M3, M4 and an M5. I have to say they worked really well. Not quite as soft as the Michelin tires, but did really well with the longer flat out laps.
All of the instructors were really behind how they work with M cars being thrashed on the track.
