The M850i is one of the most underrated cars out there.
I've now owned my M850i GC for over 1 year, and I am beginning to think that it's one of the most underrated cars in the industry.
Why? A few things: 1. It has a TTV8 engine, which is increasingly rare nowadays 2. It is a ROCKET and it handles curves remarkably well. It has the performance of supercars from only a few years ago 3. It is beautiful 4. It is comfortable and luxurious 5. (Fingers crossed) it seems to be a reliable platform, benefiting from years of BMW making improvements upon the original N63 You can say much of this and more about the M8, but this car is also substantially less expensive, which I will say is point #6 Car reviewers don't talk much about the M850i after the original hoopla when it first came out, which is why I think this car is underrated. #7 Rear wheel steering
#8 Brakes that don't make a sound. Ever. (That being said, I wouldn't take this car to the track, however.) #9 Marvelous GT cruiser. (Speaking only from a modest amount of personal experience) |

I love my M850i GC. It has a real split personality. It’s comfortable when cruising around town and a TT v8 monster when I need it to be. I also like the rarity

^ Yeah, me too
You just don’t see 8 series (of any type) around very often. Definitely an exclusivity to them. Heck, I think I see more 7 series than 8 series when I’m driving around. My only complaint is when driving in manual mode. The upshifts are kinda slow, although I love the “thump” you get in the back when you do it. Still, I guess I’ve gone too used to dual clutch. |

I believe you are correct and it hits the mark for both M850 and M8 models. I've said this before but the value will dip until production stops. Then shortly after that it will rise. I mean you can pick up a 1994 850SCI for 100K now but they went as low as 40k. This one is a long term for me mainly because I enjoy it so much. Which keeps me from tearing the motor out and making 1000HP even though it might be one of the best chassis for that much HP. lol Think about a day when if you want a V8 you will have to pay well over 200k that is coming sooner rather than later.

I think the 8 in general is massively underrated and under appreciated. You can pick good ones up for pretty much half their list price - albeit irritating to us owners who’ve taken a hit on depreciation due to the car market crashing (in the UK anyway), and people not really having any interest in buying cars like these. All about boring SUV’s these days - something I have no interest in. Give me my 8 any day of the week, even though it’s worth about £2.50 now

100% agree, we ended up with the M8 just because but the 850 is probably the best car out there for the money in it's segment. Very impressive.
