2010 mustang gt

I have been looking on ford's site quite frequently to see all the teaser shots of the new mustang gt. I'm contemplating getting rid of my car because i figure to make it the way i want it its going to cost me about 8-9k . And this day in age that money could go towards more important things. Not that am i saying i am really dieing to get one of these things. Just seeing what everyones thoughts are on it. As of now from the teaser shots i am quite impressed in how the car looks. Anyone else care to share their opinion?

And don't be biased and say its an American piece of garbage just because your not a muscle car guy.

The Mustang is a good value.

I just cannot get past the cheap interior. Exterior looks pretty nice though.

Just remember, it is a $20k car with a V8 around $28k. You will need to spend thousands to even come close to a BMW in handling.

When a car is part of the rental fleet, that should tell you something.

So to me it is not an either or situation since they are not in the same class, not even close.

But I would also check out the Camaro and charger.

So you'd rather have a Mustang than an unmodified M3? What's wrong with the M3 the way it is, save the $8-9K, it's still a better car than any variant of the Mustang, even the $50K + Mustangs. I like the look of the current Mustang but it still weighs 3800lbs plus and has a solid rear axle.

My next vehicle purchase may be domestic, probably to replace my SUV. I think it's time to support the domestic automakers, they are a part of Americana that shouldn't die.

Truth is although m3's have great financing etc. There are already used ones for in the low 50's thats started off at 68-69k . I'm not looking to lose my soul when i try and get rid of it. I know a mustang doesn't handle like a Bmw, but in florida there isn't much need for a car with superb handling. And it may not have the name or materials that make it close to one. But when i hear one go by me screaming ( I quiver) from the sound. And then what i go by fast in my silent i6 and cause no raucous?! Not taking anything away from the m3 or 335i here, they are both incredible. Just aching for something new. Who knows 370z nismo looks decent too.

This is the newest teaser shot that i found. I think it looks pretty nice. Fit of the taillight seems to be a bit odd , as you can see how it is not even with the lines of the trunk. Anyone else think so?

That's not poor fitment. It's just that the vertical part of the truck is concave and the taillights aren't. I'm sure it looks fine in person and from other angles.

Also, I'm in complete agreement that mustangs have sub-par interiors. But recent releases from ford (F150, Flex) and the interior teaser pics make it pretty clear that this mustang will be different.

It just chaps my @ss that they still use a live rear axle.

Yes that is what i meant just for lack of better words at the moment. I think that them still using a live rear axle is b.s being all there competitors don't.

As far as handling you couldn't be more wrong. A properly set up Mustang GT can run circles around BMW, people think they handle SO well when really they don't. The E46 M3 for example, runs the same track times a 350z, which isn't that fast. If you aren't talking about an M, and some times even IF you could get the Mustang to play ball with a sway, x brace, coilovers, rubber and wheels. Which would still make it thousands less...

BMW transformed into power potential of the Mustang = good lord $10-15,000+

Mustang GT to BMW handling = Psh well well under $3-4k

The car is in a rental fleet to offer someone something somewhat exciting to drive. I know people who go on vacations and sure don't rent a Chevy Aveo, they rent Vettes and GT's. Why? Because they like the cars, enough to rent, not to own. They get there fix.

while the chuck dude you originally quoted is retarded, theres some flaws in your post as well

the e46 m3 is 10 years old. back in 1999 it got 333hp out of its naturally aspirated inline 6. find me another car from 1999 that did that with NA 6 cylinders. hell find me a car today that does that with 6 cylinders 3 liters NA.

comparing it to a mustang is retarded. guess what i can buy an e30 325 with no rust for about 5k and put 20k into it and it will run circles around any crapstang out there. even better i can buy a civic for $500 and put $20k into it and it will run circles around porsches, mustangs, and whatever else u wanna throw at it.

point is there is no room to diss the e46 m3, it is a classic car, the styling is classic, performance/luxury ratio is perfect, the steering feel is better than any shitstain mustang, the power delivery of the engine is linear and smooth, its still fast today despite the fact that its 10 years old. theres a reason GM and ford is in the toilet. people would rather drive plastic camry's and corollas than american made fords and GM's. that's saying something.
