Sport Auto magazine in Germany as they do in all their Supertests have dynoed an M5 Competition showing 640 hp. Like all BMW power outputs the official factory number is usually understated.

Do you prefer the look without the spoiler?

No offense, but if you're grouping all Lambos and Ferraris into one sound category, you really don't have a distinct ear for [exhaust] sounds. A Ferrari 458 sounds every different from a 488. A Murcielago sounds very different from a Huracan.

Love the motor and the interior, but I'm feeling a bit underwhelmed by the aesthetics of the car. It looks okay, and the wheels are not attractive [to me]. The tuner world can fix some of that though.

I don't rate the 'straight piped' sound personally, it sounds a mess to me. A loud car doesn't automatically class it as great sounding as some people seem to think.

M doesn't have a single strong personality that can push for innovative ideas. They had the guys on the top of the industry but lost to other brands...Look what Biermann is doing at Hyundai. Time to lower our expectations...

Nailed it. Missing the huge battle wing, mad wheels, and crazy wrap... 😂

Cold start sounded a bit naff but on the move was amazing.
Let's be honest bmw doesn't know or doesn't seem to want to spend time on making their cars sound good it seems. I really wish they would just steal some Amg exhaust engineers and sprinkle a bit of their magic on them. Saying that however B58 engined cars are better so there is hope for the new m3 as the current m3 sounds pretty rough. No comparison with m5 vs e63 in the sound dept IMO though. |
