Got to sit in one today. Seats are comfy. Shifter feels good, very close throws. Clutch doesn't feel too light. But damn, the exterior styling is way more aggressive in person. And I wasn't a fan of the red striping along the bottom of the vehicle.

what color was the type r? I saw a black one at my local dealership and they wouldn't let me open the door. The red striping on the bottom looks like red tape and can easily be peeled off. it's so ghetto and don't get me started on all that fake carbon fiber all over the car.

I'm glad that story worked out in the end, PR is a powerful thing.
You can still use social media to make em pay. They lose a sale so they really don't win

It was black. I liked it, but that red striping...yea lots of fake carbon bits. Yes, I assume it's functional, but still looks cheesy up close.

I was going to replace my STi for this (STi getting a bit too loud for my tastes), but may be leaning towards a pre owned Golf R. But the Golf R was so boring to drive...

Ideally, I'd want Honda to make a lightweight RWD coupe. Something along the lines of a S2000 but in a coupe style - not a big fan of convertibles. I'd get in line for that.

The new Civic Type R is too much tech and flash. I'd jump on an original Civic Type R from the 90s! That was the best one in my book.

Friend of mine works at a Honda dealer and said they had a huge list of people wanting theirs. Sounds like there are going to be people 'camping out' waiting for the transport truck to deliver it and then the bidding starts at somewhere around 8k over sticker.

Absolutely insane.

They're gonna be so disappointed when they race against a 328i and lose.

On a track, likely not. From a stoplight, likely so. But if that's the determinant to buying the Type R, 'to beat cars from a stoplight', then it's the wrong vehicle to get.

It relates to my previous post, people buy the car because they see "fastest FWD vehicle around the ring" but 85% of them will not touch the track with the car, more likely the drag strip or from a stoplight.

Personally I couldn't live with the styling of the thing but obviously some people really like it. Enough so that they're willing to pay huge mark ups to be "the first" to have one which is cool until production catches up and they're sitting on the lot.

Soon enough it will likely be the same as the golf r was, bunch of people over paying and quietly realizing this isn't *omfg super awesome happy time*

Well, in europe it isn't widely popular. People have it, but aren't going all gong ho on it. I'm expecting NA to follow the same trend after people start buying it and realizing it isn't what it seems.

Thats true. I would hope these same people still decided to check the 0-60 times from independent automotive publications. But they're probably still too stupid to realize what this car is truly intended for. I do love the cargo space though!

Really? For some reason, I always assumed it was very popular in Europe. Interesting.

The car runs nearly a 13 flat quarter. that should be ahead of the 328.

Apparently not, people have tested it and it runs 14 seconds

FWD really kills the car from a dig. The wheelspin due to the amount of torque and FWD.
