Dashcam for road and autocross use?

I'm looking to pick up a dash cam to use for liability while driving but it would be a bonus if it were also capable of recording future autocross laps.

Can anyone suggest a good model for this in the sub-$200 range? I've done a little research but would value any firsthand input.

Also - if I understand the SCCA rules correctly, the cam will need to be mounted by something more secure than a suction cup... right?

Not sure on suction cup, I'll be doing autocross and HPDE and its fine. I started researching same thing last week and hands down the Nextbase 522 wins, everywhere I look !!

Best Buy just dropped $50 to $209.

Yeah the nextbase does look pretty cool... I’ve been looking into garmin options as well. I might take a lap around town with my phone mounted on the dash to see if that records well enough for autox as it seems like the frame rates of dash cams may not produce good enough motion detail to be worthwhile though.

I’m looking to get one too and seems like Rexing has pretty good reviews and not that expensive.

If you want high quality video why not get a gopro or two? There are thousands of mounting options for your mood at the time.
