VW Passat W12?

I was driving on the Turnpike yesterday, close to the intersection with 836, and I was passed by a VW Passat.

I'm very certain I saw Passat W12 on the back, and car boasted quad exhaust pipes and a nice exhaust note.

You bet the first thing I did was to visit the VW website, but I don't see any model under that spec.

Anybody here knows about it? Or was just a case of nice looks and a borrowed Phaeton W12 badge?

The car was very fast though.

When the Phaeton was sold here, they offered a W12. It was actually the first W12 I ever rode in.

WTF, I can't read. You saw a passat with a w12 badge? Definitely badge thievery at its finest

there was the W8 passat sold in the USA in the early 2000s, but only for a few years. It did have quad exhausts and was fairly quick...but did not sell (just like the Phaeton) so thay discontinued it...
THere was no W12 Passat...

THere was no W12 Passat...

Thanks - that helps - the car flew by me so fast that perhaps I thought I saw the W12, and maybe it was W8.

I researched the Passat W8, and it made 275 HP. Not bad for 2002-2005 I guess.
