Toyota GR HV - Automatic H Shifter

I haven't seen a shifter like this before on an automatic. Looks like it would be a lot of fun.

Well sin't that just stupid.

Anyone who drives a real manual is going to be stabbing the brake a LOT.

Yeah, I saw that when they first released pics and wondered what the hell was going on.

One out of five times that I drive my wife's car, I kick the shit out of the brake pedal the first time I hit it. Makes for a good laugh.

Looks cool. Pair it with a dual clutch and could be fun for those with bum knees longing for a manual.

Not sure about practicality. Got rid of my wifes car because she doesn't drive enough and it was sending me to looney town every time I got in, much as Red Bread outlined. LOL.

Reminds of VW's "Autostick" and Porsche's "Sportomatic" that both debuted in the later part of the '60's. No clutch pedal...a touch of the hand on the gearshift disengaged the vacuum actuated clutch allowing you to select another gear.. Both systems worked surprisingly well...while most of us made fun of them and of those that bought them.

I don't think I'd go for one of this, but my father would have a hoot with it. Can't really drive a manual anymore but he'd have some fun reliving his 280Z days in this thing.
