As terrible as this is it's still not as bad as the BMW 3GT and 5GT. Mercedes is the only big automaker who still makes a wide range of interesting cars, although Ford is catching up.

So they have a wide product base..., I don't see any issue with this. It pulls in numbers, and in my own opinion, I think Merc is making some of the best looking cars on the road right now.

I think OP is just trying to feel better about the fact that his beloved BMW has become one of the most pedestrian brands on the market. The only interesting BMW in the foreseeable future is the Toyota FT-1.

Actually kinda cool.

Way better than BMW working on the hideous front wheel drive Active Tourer.

That's more of an issue MB has in Europe. Here in the States they're viewed in largely the same light as BMW...probably because we have approximately 0 E-Class taxi cabs here.

If Mercedes can convince idiots to not only buy a car that looks like a toaster and hasn't undergone any major changes in decades, but can also cost over $100,000 (G Wagon), then I'm sure they can sell a pickup.

Build one on a new Titan chassis, I would be all over it.

I actually think in the states, a luxury pick up would sell well.

I believe that is pronounced BMWyota.

As far as other potentially interesting bimmers in the pipeline, M2 could be something special. Or not, we'll find out in about 6 months...

I don't know. Cadillac as the Escalade EXT and Lincoln had a luxury pick up. Both were a rebadged Chevy Avalanche and F150 respectively. Neither lasted too long.

GM is going to make a new EXT. As far as the Lincoln, well all their vehicles suck. I bet a Merc pick-up would out sell some of their current models offered in the US.

As much as I like BMW, I think BMW has become more like VW. They have just started churning out the most absurd models, 3 GT, 4 GC, and a lot of what anyone would call market fillers.
