I completely missed (so did the "scoop" rendering) that HUGE wing!
WTF is that doing on there!?!?

Great, now they're going after the Civic Type-R crowd too!

I just can't get my hear wrapped around daily driving a car with that huge wing, unless it's a GT3/RS. Anything else will have people laughing at you when you get out of your car at a client. Embarrassing

If they stick something as stout as the 2JZ in the new Supra things may turn out OK.

I'm glad I don't have any of those issues at work with people scrutinizing what I drive.

FWIW, they all just come to me for advice.

Edit - just double checked, it's actually pretty revised. Removed the "Stingray" rear end, adjusted the front bumper to match the current protos and even seems to shorten the window profile to match the protos. Not bad, still almost comically over styled, but better than the FT1.
Yes sir, they use the prototype as the base for their rendering. So its more accurate (proportion wise) vs alot of the other renderings out there.

The new Supra is a sister car to the non-M Z4 so those power figures are just about right. Given it will likely be priced slightly less than the Z4, it is unrealistic to expect it to have GTR or NSX level power. The MZ4 won’t be out until couple years after regular model launch so the Supra sure as hell isn’t going to get the M engine at launch, if ever.

I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing for Toyota either. They need a halo car that is financially approachable by many enthusiasts. The LFA - as much $$ as they poured and lost on it - did little to raise their brand’s “sports” reputation because most people don’t even know about it.

I ***despise*** what the Euro pedestrian protection BS regs have done to the profiles of low slung cars. What are they worth, 5, 6, 10 broken legs saved? Bah.

Want to see a proper sports car profile? GT40, S2000, some others I'm sure but those jump to mind.

I do agree that the high shoulder, short greenhouse look can't go away soon enough. Some brands have done better with it than others, Aston Martin and Jaguar come to mind. But most modern sports cars look way too porky.

The Toyota Supra Road Car Probably Won't Be at Geneva, Will Debut in New York

Quote:
Expect to only see the racing version at the Geneva Motor Show

Yesterday, we reported that an early copy of the Japanese magazine Best Car may have leaked details of the new Toyota Supra before its official debut. We’ve already seen our fair share of lightly camouflaged Supra prototypes, including the new spy shot above, so when Toyota finally reveals the new car, the design won’t be much of a surprise. But despite Toyota’s official teaser suggesting the reveal will be in a few weeks, it may be a little more complicated than that.

According to translations sent in by several readers (and one editor’s mother), Toyota only plans to show off a GTE-class racing version of the Supra at the Geneva Motor Show. The road car, on the other hand, won’t debut until the New York auto show at the end of next month. This, of course, depends entirely on Best Car‘s information being accurate, but SupraMKV forum staff seem to believe it is.

For fans anxious to see the new Supra’s interior, which engines and transmissions will be available, and potentially even a few performance statistics, this news probably comes as a disappointment. Sure, the race car will probably look a lot like the road-going Supra, but the interior will likely be stripped, and power output could be significantly different. If you want an idea of how the Supra road car will look, check out the spy shot above, provided by SupraMKV, which appears to show a Supra prototype wearing production-spec wheels.

Even if we do have to wait a little longer to see it in production trim, after more than 15 years of waiting, the new Supra is finally almost here, and that’s definitely worth getting excited about.
