v11/2020.50 Observations in my 2020 M850i GC
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com 1. The menu item for auto steering wheel heating has disappeared (as others have previously mentioned) 2. I have my car programmed through Comfort Access for contactless locking/unlocking and now as I approach the car after it has been sitting overnight or unused for a few hours during the day, as the lights flash and the mirrors unfold, even before I open the door, there is a loud "whirring" metallic sound coming from the rear of the car. It's not the parking brake being released because when I get in the car it shows to be on (I use the Autohold feature.) Could be the fuel pump (?) except it is so loud and I have not even entered the car. Anybody else have this issue or is there a logical explanation I am missing?

Yes I too get the whirring sound from the rear after an overnight rest or longer period rest. I would not describe mine as loud, but clearly audible. I've not even thought about what it could be until your post. Fuel pump is a logical choice, I wonder whether it could also be de-activation of immobiliser?

Like you said, the fuel pump is logical, but would it start in the car's wake up routine before actually pressing the "start" button? I would classify the noise as fairly loud from the outside of the car and it was not there before the download of the new software version. It only makes the noise for about two seconds, so it's not annoying for long, just strange.

My F92 is on 11/2020 and still have the option, but it's not .50, it's a lower version (maybe .42 or something like that) from the dealer.

If you are on I-Level 20-11-542 (11.2020.42) you still have the auto setting for the steering wheel heating. This is so also with my M850i so I am a little hesitant about updating mine since I actually like having this setting. I wonder if it can be coded back once it isn't there standard anymore.
The latest I-Level release for our models is the 21-03-536 (03.2021.36). I believe the software "levels" one gets through the remote OTA update/upgrades are almost if not always behind the actual ones that BMW have already released and that are performed via the classic procedure/s (usually via ISTA+). |
