In my opinion the BMW choice for the radar sensor looks much better than the MB option. Image the grill with a big plastic square in the middle. :

Is this using the base m8 motor or the 8 series v8?

Nowhere near $200K ($150 loaded to the gills) and would make very short work of your M850 at a red light or freeway run. I won't mention the rarity as that too would possibly be lost on you. I know you're kinda known on here for controversial comments, but this one crosses over into asinine territory.

There is def disagreement with me on this but I always loved the look of the Alpina wheels.
The 21" option and Alpina wheels look especially good in this application. I always felt the 20" wheels on the M8 being such a massive car were too small. This vehicle isn't my deal but I could see the draw to some people

Meh.....I see the Alpina models almost as pointless now.
The M8 looks better, is faster, and can be had for cheaper. I always love the wheels on the Alpina, though. Alpina just doesn't hold the same for me as it did 10-15 years ago because the M models are so much better now.

In the US it will be much cheaper and the price/simulation I made applies to Germany. In the US you can expect it to be 40.000-50.000 USD cheaper I guess. Of course it's still a lot of money and mostly in M8 price range. Alpina cars have their special appeal but it's always a never ending debate between choosing the former and an M8. Let's just say THE8 is truly special no matter what model we look at. Expect soon several youtube videos/reviews where the M8 squares off against the B8.

The B8 uses the same 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbocharged engine from the M850i and the former is based just on that. Then of course Alpina "tunes" it in several respects (transmission, exhaust system, cooling system to name some of the relevant engine-related stuff).
