Carbon Fibre front air intakes

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Has anyone tried to install these carbon fiber front trims? I believe they are part of the carbon fiber package on the 850 & euro 840. I found the part numbers ( listed here) but I'm not sure how difficult it would be to install.

They are part of the carbon fiber package. Mine came installed from the factory on the built in.

They look awesome, and I doubt they would be hard to add as retroactive retrofit. The look like they clip in.

Let me know! If you're looking to see them, I can send you pictures of mine.

Thanks for the response! Yes, can you please share pics if you don't mind? That's one of the mods that I have been considering.

Dope!! It looks so good especially with all the other carbon you have. Very tastefully modded. 👏👏. Thank you!

Do you know how they are held in place? Is it tape or was it screwed in? Also, do you know if it works with the black air inlet grille that comes with the non carbon package or does it need a unique air inlet grill? It looks like they are the same but not sure.

thanks! I agree!

I don't know how it's held in because it came from the factory and I haven't taken it apart. but it's definitely fixed in place solid. I'd guess a type of glue, it seems stronger than just tape. But I could be taped.

I think it's the same air intake, and it looks like you can bolt it on easily. I don't know, but I'd think you can easily add it to yours.

Thank you so much! I appreciate all your help and insight. I have ordered those items. Now lets hope they are stateside and won't have to come from Germany.

I'm still waiting on parts I ordered in September last year.

this "pandemic" is a great excuse for companies not to deliver parts in a timely manner.

that said, good luck and send pictures! I'm sure they will look great!

No, you will need new CF-specific grillles that they snap/clip into.

I was told the front bumper needs to come off to do this.

Wow that is ridiculous. Hopefully, they are working out something for you to accommodate for the delay. but that's way too long.

You are right. The dealer reached out to tell me that i needed this piece (51118074422 & 51118074421) in addition to the carbon fiber trims.

So the bumper has to come off huh? i was hoping it was an easy install.

Nope. Nothing except they did refund about half of my shipping costs because one piece was defective and had to be returned.
I ordered 4 carbon fiber pieces; and they ship me 1 every 3 months despite being paid in full six months ago.

I ordered the side skirts, spoiler, splitter and diffuser. Still waiting on the diffuser remake. Haven't opened the front yet, but I hope it's not damaged either.

Ordered carbon fiber center console trim from the dealership, had to be shipped from Germany, took almost 3.5 months. Arrived a week ago.

If you're needing new vents, the bumper will definitely have to come off. You're talking at least 1-2 hours total labor.
