I'm facing the same and it drives me nuts. I convinced BMW to inspect the vehicle and they agreed to replace discs and break pads. After the replacement the issue was gone for like 500miles and it's squeaking again!!!🙈

All brakes that can handle heat well are gonna squeak. These kind of compounds are especially needed for a heavy vehicle that has most of its braking power in the front. Without the squeaky fade resistant pads, you might run into unexpected disaster when the quieter compound fades after some continuously aggressive driving.
For mostly regular driving, I think you'll be very happy just replacing the front brake pads with something like EBC yellow which i have run on many cars and they have aggressive bite without the noise. Save the OEM pads for track if you ever go

Same here, started right after I got mine out of the dealer, back in October 2020, forces me to be brutal on the brake to avoid the ugly noise...

My '19 M5 was the same. My '22 M8 isn't making the noise yet, but I will not be surprised when it does... and it most certainly will. I take that as an opportunity to beat the heck out of it for a while to see if that helps. Can't make it worse

Same here, I had mine squealing from day one, in October 2020. It drives me nuts and it is embarrassing !!
Any recommandation for a shop where they could fix the issue either with the “lub” or change the pads in LA.
Sorry for the silly question but I moved here a year ago and have no references yet for automotive services…
Thanks

I installed the Portfield RS-4 brake pads (front and rear) last December and could not be happier. Brake squeal has been 99% eliminated and brake dust has been greatly reduced.

I do not track my M5 but I do engage in spirited driving and have not experienced any reduction in braking/stopping performance. Having owned a M3 (F80) for 4 years with the steel brake pads I never experienced the noise of coming to stop as I did with the stock brake pads on my M5.
@Egrunt You did save my life with those Porterfield pads!!
No more noise, very little dust, what a bliss!!

Thank you so much for the tip. I encourage all our fellow members who have the squealing problem to change their front pads for the Porterfield R4-S (ref #AP2155 for M8 and M5).
I didn't have to change the rear ones actually, just changing the front solved the problem.

For those who are living near LA county, I could not recommend more having the operation done with my friend Frank Alvis from Alvis Motorsport Racing (562-900-7182) who can even come to your place to do the job as he did for me!!

I had a 2013 F13 M6 and lived with this noise for 3 years. 3 times replaced brake pads + rotors for free (BMW used to cover it back then). Every time it was good for 2-3K miles and then came back again. I had less noise with F82 M4 and F80 M3 and now again with M8 it's there...

Just thought to share with you maybe you feel better now

It's unfortunately a common issue. BMW considers it a normal characteristic of these soft compound M brakes.

My suggestion is to turn up the stereo and ignore it. Lol No matter which high performance car you get, you'll have an issue that will annoy you. Nature of the beast.

Noisy brakes are part of having a high performance car with brakes that can stop it. Every one I have ever owned through the years has been noisy at some point, some worse than others. It's just the nature of the beast.

This for sure!

Even CCB squeal like crazy but they are the best for stopping.

My carbon brakes only squeal after the car wash. Otherwise they never do in 10k so far.
