Anybody put on H&R Springs (28671-1)?

Just wanted to see if anybody put on H&R springs model 28671-1.

They also make 28671-6 which is slightly more of a drop but they were more expensive.

I'm curious what your thoughts are if you have put them on. Pics would be an added bonus

I put their M550 springs on mine; they fit and work perfectly on the M8 GC, I assume they would for you, too. I'm not sure if that's the model # you're asking about or not. See my build thread (subject contains limeypride but started by Ben) for pics... or ask here and I'll post some (there are plenty of pics out there so I'm told ).

Just checked out the thread. First of all...WOW! I've got some serious M8C envy going on here!

2nd...great job r33_RGSport !!

Last, I think Ben nailed it with springs and spacers. I'm hoping that M550 springs are the same as the SKU 28671-1 I'm getting done at a local shop. I think they told me they were 1.2" or 1.3" drop.

Questions:

1) Are your springs the same drop in front and rear? I ask because it appears as though, stock, my M850 sits higher in the back vs the front and I'm hoping they are even once all done.

2) You did 11mm spacers on front & 15mm on rear?

I don't remember.
All my notes are at the office.

I believe front lowers more to even out the rake.

You can't use M8 GC setup for the spacer.
It is different.

So I did some digging...

These are the springs H&R spec's for a MY20 M550 - They have a 1.2" drop in front and 1.3" drop in back.

They are SKU 28721-2...do you think these are the ones you used on your M8C?

You can't use that number against M8GC.
The number H&R stated is for the said specific car.
The number that on the M5 or M8GC that I and other guys been putting on, are different that what H&R stated.

Okay...I guess I'm just trying to figure out what the ACTUAL H&R part# is for what we're calling the "M550" springs.

Also, are you saying that just because the "M550" springs were perfect for limeypride's M8C, they may not be what's perfect for my M850xi GC?

Mine is also a GC. Ben will have to comment to be certain but I think he's saying the spacers won't work (you need model-specific ones).

Ben, is there a set of H&R springs that fits the M850GC?

Now I'm even more confused. Did you mean to say spacers or springs?

Then I asked Ben to confirm--since I'm not clear if he confirmed that or not--whether he knows for sure if there is a set of H&R springs that work for the M850 GC.

Anybody put on H&R Springs (28671-1)?

Ahhhh...I see now.

My plan was to get the springs figured out first. I want to erase that wheel well space first and foremost.

Once that is solved, I will be getting some spacers from r33_RGSport. He & I PM'd and I will provide measurements & pics to him once springs are in.

So unless I missed something, this brings me back to my earlier question…what is the actual H&R SKU for what we're calling the "M550" springs?

(Sorry if I'm not communicating correctly…haha!!)

Man, this thread got out of control. Specs wise, lol.
I don't understand why the Admin didn't separate M8 and 8-series forum, but they did separate all the others. Even down to cosmetics mod, suspension, etc into all little sub-forums.

Anyway, OP's question is totally irrelevant to what i've done to limeypride 's F93 M8 GranCoupe. Spring and Spacer setup will not applicable on G16 8-series GranCoupe.

M550 spring that M5 guys been using are from G30 M550 specific spring from H&R.
Again, this won't apply to OP's G16 8-series GranCoupe.

Now, the specific spring for G16 8-series GranCoupe by H&R.
To answer your question, no, I haven't install it since not many 8-series comes around yet and H&R just recently released the spring. Probably less than 6 months.

Spacer wise, as I discussed with OP through PM, my measurement is at stock height.
So, you'll need to measure after the drop, because most likely it is different than stock height measurement.

Just wanted to add some final clarity on this thread...

I just talked to H&R directly and their ONLY tested spring for my M850i GC is the 28671-6.

He said, while the specs (coil size, etc...) are the same on the 28671-1 (which is intended for the M850 Coupe) and the 28721-2 (which is intended for the M550), the springs may physically fit on the vehicle just fine but are definitely different and are setup & tested for the weight/distribution of the vehicle they are intended for. He said, while they could indeed work (just like the M550 springs work on limeypride's M8C GC), there is no guarantee.

Updating this thread with outcome for any who search in the future...

These pics show before & after with the H&R Springs 28671-6 on a MY20 M850 GC G16 w/20" 728M wheels (The trunk is mostly empty except for the stock springs being in there as I had just come from the shop)
(You can click on each image for a high-res version embedded from my public dropbox folder)

That's the intended next step! I've been going back and forth with r33_RGSport to see if it was possible to replace factory 728M wheels with 810M wheels. It's not looking good!
