Meh, nothing will ever match the F06 interior... that sweeping design is a classic.
I like the rear end & hood-line situation on the new 8'er though.

Garage List
I prefer the shorter overhangs of the 8 better.

I agree totally, that price hike is something else!

It's written carbon core on the door panel(not sure what this means but sounds like they used carbon inside chassis maybe ) and have a four wheel steering, if these two are standard on the 8series, they may be the reason for the price hike..

but on the twin turbo diesel, the engine is the same I think

Anyway, it is a nice looking car
According to BMW (may just be marketing speak) the 8-Series is built on a totally new platform and isn't related to the 5 or 7-series like how the 6-Series was riding on a modified 5-series platform. Price difference is probably coming from that even though yes they're all using the same engines.

Price hike is definitely a bummer since I don't know which F06/12/13 owners are gonna spend the extra money on an 8 and I doubt any of them are gonna replace the best BMW design this decade with the visual mess that is the 6GT, but what can we do

What is BMW's fascination with m sport's gray bumper?????

Can't it be black plastic! Why gray?

All one color back there would be so much better.

Just not a fan of the m sport look

I didn't realize how much the 8 looked like a Mustang in side profile.

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

I don't believe the 6er deserved the hunchback of notre dam (6GT) model they gave it. Such a shame, this 8er is gorgeous but should have stayed named a 6er. It's obvious where it's lineage comes from. I think there is/was room for a proper halo car that should have been given the 8er badge
BMW never simultaneously offered both a 6 and 8 series.

The "6" didn't come back around until the Bangle-era.

The passenger cell is carbon fiber.

BMW's getting smaller???? What???

Have we finally reached the end of this ridiculous trend of porky sports cars? I mean I love the 6 series, but it's a proper boat!

For anyone interested, the M8 GTE(?) is racing in 24 Hours of Le Mans right now. You can watch for free by signing up for a free trial on Philo and watching on Velocity which is broadcasting the entire race.

Lots of focus on the M8. Commentators saying it's the best looking GT car in the race. The rear tails are beautiful.

Haven't been following the 6 series. Is it being axed for the 8 or will BMW offer both?

Give it up, man. That interior is as dated as your stable.

This 8er is better in every way, in and out, versus the outgoing 6er...and that's okay. Progress is progress.

L shaped tail lights? That’s also missing on iconic designs like E28, E39, E60, E30, E36 etc.
