Crafted clarity retrofit

I'm looking to retrofit the crafted clarity shifter, start button and i-drive controller.

I've already picked up the shifter, frame and buttons (inc start button). I'm just looking to source a multimedia controller with the glass top.

My question is related to coding. I have read a few posts about the retrofit on the x5, but the have not been that clear about whats required.

I understand VO coding is required to illuminate the logo on the top, but is there any further coding required if I want to replace the entire shifter assembly including the frame holding the buttons and the multimedia controller, or is it plug and play?
