MARC URBANOCAR AND DRIVER
The BMW M8 is disguised as a giant four-seater coupe, but get behind the wheel of this 617-hp twin-turbocharged V-8 for a loud reminder that looks can be deceiving. It's snappy eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive system mimic NASA launches, and even when blasting to a quarter-mile, the M8 manages to do it in 10.7 seconds at 129 mph. The Pirelli P Zero PZ4 tires provide plenty of grip and kept the M8 clung to the skidpad at 1.03 g.

2.5 is so fast but I doubt I could replicate this in a real world environment in a repetitive situation like a Turbo S. I just dont think Ive ever seen the car run that fast in other tests.

thanks for the post too!!

Mostly because C&D (it’s their tests that R&T are referencing) uses a rollout.

The M5 time doesn't make sense - it says 2.6sec but links to an article where it's timed at 3.0sec.

I feel like that's a typo in the hyperlink, and maybe they're referring to the 2.8 they got with the non-Comp F90 on PS4S rubber? I don't think any stock cars are hitting 2.6, even with roll out, are they? I think I've seen 2.7 with optimal LC conditions...

As mentioned above a .2-.3 second rollout was in place for most of the vehicles tested. So the realistic M8 time was about 2.7-2.8, still impressive, but definitely an asterisk to the posted times.

as Vic says not sure if this 2.5 s can be reproducible every time similar to 911 turbo S but 2.5 or 2.8 anyways for a 4300 lb car anything under 3 seconds is fantastic

My 21 x5m is right next to a track hawk to 60
And from 60 they have no chance .
BMW and other German cars numbers are understated ,and American trash is overstated .
