Question BMW 8 Series Dealership Allocations

How often are BMW 8 Series Dealership Allocations either updated or added to the production schedules?

I thought bmw build allocations generally came out late in the month- although depending on model not every dealer will get one although some of them trade (i was told my dealer had to trade to get my m8 gc allocation).

Anyhow- there are definitely guys on here that know more about this than I do.

what year??? Seems to be between 1200 and 1600 so far for all the 8 series models. I've not seen a break down for trim level.

I ordered a 2023 M8 competition but any typical year would give me an idea. Is that number world wide or just USA

I doubt seriously BMW will achieve their goals this year. There have been so many issues related to production and they seem to keep on coming. The 2023 might just end up being a rare car some day.

Do you also think the production number will be about 1600 vehicles

I doubt it, the 2022 so far was reported at 600 so about half what was expected. 2023 has a great head start because they cut the amount of orderable 2022's to prepare for 2023.

Thanks for the info. It seems if I ever get it it will be pretty rare.

And only because there might be so few of them all of which have so few options. A real collectors car....

I get more and more discouraged every day. I'm still waiting on an allocation and I don't get the sense BMW is actually building the 2023's yet. Add chip, wiring harness, and other supply chain issues I'm starting to feel that even if I do ever get my M8 I'll feel like I'm getting 95% of what I want. I'm seriously considering other options at this point.

I was initially thinking that my March allocation would get me a March build date, but I was clearly delusional. Are you stuck on your dealer? If you are dealer flexible, dealers have a list of who has allocations around the country. You can shop around for an allocation or try a broker who might be able to get you one. Granted after you get one who knows when it will be built. Didn't the 8's used to have IR night vision? That was before I knew much about them or could afford one so I'm not too sure. I'd be happy at just the B&W though.

This problem with the B&W in the US baffles me. Ordered my M8 GC competition in mid March and had no choice but to add the premium package which includes the B&W sound system with the power sunscreens ventilated seat and other options. No choice. So why are they forcing me in Canada and not giving you the option in the US?

Totally agree. Their package system which is different by country makes no sense and is rather frustrating

I’ve no idea. But no matter what they eventually produce, the number is certain to be less than they projected

I have a 2023 M850 convertible on order since March 8th. I don't have a production number yet. Dealer is waiting for allocation, So I'm told. We'll see how long this takes.

My 2022 M8 Comp has IR night vision. You mean that isn't available now?

It's still available in Canada, but it is not available in the US (I believe they removed it from all order guides across the board in the US).

I actually thought they were getting rid of it totally with camera technology getting better, but seeing it on the Canadian order guide without being on the US guide... it's probably legal related since we're all lawsuit happy down here.
