Negotiating with dealer on new m850
Hi guys!
My M850 came in this week and had some initial negotiating with the dealer regarding final price. He was able to knock off $1500 if I went with BMW financing. MSRP $116,895 Has anyone had any luck with their own purchase? Also, he recommended I get the maintenance package, specifically to cover the brakes. Anyone have experience with this or the other packages? Thanks guys! Hope everyone is enjoying their new cars. I actually really like it - more so than I was expecting. |

I got a somewhat better deal, but I'm sure that it was a one-off here in sleepy North Florida. As for the maintenance package/brakes, I guess it depends on how many miles you drive and how aggressively you drive. When the time came, I ducked out of the finance office and consulted off the record with my long-term service advisor and he quietly nudged me away from taking that package. I did, however, take the tire and wheel insurance - it has proven valuable to me in the past, given the runflats.

As for packages, I took the maintenance pkg +1, but decided against the wheel package. I'm in FL and do t really have potholes like in wintry states. Also I never had tire/wheel issues in the past. Hope I do t mess this. Also the wheel/tire insurance maxes out at $5k (3 wheels pretty much) and if I need to change 1 wheel plus a bit more to break even. What options did you build with? Wish you luck on making a sound deal.

My build code is DVD2J7TL.
I went with sunset orange metallic, chrome line exterior with the tartufo/black merino leather with glass controls and anthracite alcantara headliner. The rims are the style 730i (20" V spoke orbit gray). It seems like the brake pads are the thing that gets covered that are worth it. Does anyone know what the cost of these is to replace? Also, anyone able to redeem the $1500 BMW CCA offer. It seems pretty straightforward if you get the 3 year membership. Thanks for the help guys. Quote:

For $600, I figured it would cost as much for pads and also other things. I have sent in my application for the CCA $1500 as well; I had membership from before so did not have to do the 3 yrs but it is still a no brained to Pat $150 to get $1500 back. Good luck and let me know if you need another dealer if this deal falls through. Take care.

Pulled the trigger! Going to pick the little guy up on Sunday!!!
I was able to negotiate down to $111,500, which I thought was fair given it is a new car. I did go with the wheel and tire package as well as the maintenance. The maintenance was not that much (they gave me some sort of deal), and the tire package seems like you can just puncture your tires all at once and then pay $50 to have them all replaced. It also covered cosmetic damage to the rims. Overall I am very happy! |

Sweet! That's a stunning color.
I test drove an 850i a couple of weeks ago, and I'm really impressed with it. I was wondering what kind of deals are out there... on the one hand, it's a new car, they don't make a lot of them, typically dealers don't have many in inventory, so they'll tend to want to maximize their profit. On the other hand, there's a huge premium on these cars, so dealers have significant wiggle room. I'm so underwater on my M2 that it makes me cry, and I bought my 750i used (it was a lease and not quite 3 years old) so I paid less than half of the MSRP. That makes me feel better although I confess to really preferring to buy new and not having to wonder just what caused that funky smell...
