G30 Black Kidney Grill replacement
I was looking into getting a black kidney grill for my 5-series I didn't want to get it from bmw since they charge a boatload, any recommendations from any sites, where the kidney grill won't mess up the air ventilation from opening or closing either?

I don't understand your reluctance to use OEM, the black kidney grills are one of the more affordable and reasonable priced items.

If I'm not mistaken active vents aren't connected to the grill. So should be minimal impact.

I have been looking for the same and posted essentially the same question. Found these today:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Shiny-Black...4AAOSwG0tasP57 or am also considering the M Style double slat. Just can't decide. These are the same price as the single slat: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Front-Grill....c100005.m1851 But having a hard time finding reputable instructions on how to do the replacement myself. Every YT video is for the F series 5. According to all those videos, you just pull on the grills to remove. I don't want to try that with mine...with my luck I'll snap off some vital part. Plus with the active slats, removal and install might be different than on an F series. If anyone knows a good video or at least step by step guide, that'd be great. |

Yeah...having hard time trying to decide between the two. I love the look of the double slat, and just noticed today they'd match my M sport wheels in a way. But then again, I don't want to over style the thing and especially be that guy that's putting M stuff on a non-M car. Yeah, I have the M package, but it's not an M. If I had the 550, then no question, but the 540? Just not sure. First world problems.

I just got my new grills in and I CANNOT get them to go in flush at all. I can get the original back in no problem, but the new ones have a large gap. I've looked over both the new and original pieces and their identical on the back... I don't know what to do. Any advice?

Like the previous member stated this is one of the cheapest mods you can do. Get the OEM ones for piece of mind and a perfect fit. Save $40-50 and deal with crap fit and finish. It blows my mind how people are willing to spend $50k + on a car but lose their mind when it comes to spending couple a hundred for some oem accessories. To each their own I guess.

I believe you can source the genuine BMW M Performance ones here at 19% off:

FWIW, I bought mine off ebay - yeah, I know, but it's a lease car so...why blow the extra money? And truthfully, perfect fit and finish. Been on the car for 7 months now - no chipping or flaking even after numerous car washes, bugs and rocks thrown at it. Just pointing out another option. And so easy to install
