Oh wow, I didn't look up the stats. Just assumed that a smaller car would be a lighter one. Well... shoot, sucks for the Z.

Even so its logical 350 Z against M3 never against 330i.
Yea buddy, that vid is to make Jap cars look good, and is BS.

My boys M3 Slaughters 350Zs all day long. litteraly destroys them. its an 03 6 speed.

It's not BS. Tsukuba's layout makes it hard to pass, unless you have a big difference in power. The M3 lapped the quickest time anyway, and ultimately it won.

then ur on crack. WRX modded ($1k worth) can smoke you easily. Nissan is known to over book their numbers by 20-30 hps....while German horses are understated. But it doesnt' matter...nissan is a nissan....it's their M3 competitor I guess....and m3....not even the E92 version can easily eat the 350.

as for the video...i actually have the DVD version and it's pretty old. You guys realize that the M3 started last and in these races...it's difficult to pass others, so it's not about the power of the car (For these races)...put them on a straight line drag or in a "top gear style" track time runs...u'll know who is faster...I don't even think the G35 had the OEM rims but not 100% sure

The X drive does not loose much through the system. BMW drivetrain is very efficient compaired to other auto makers. Gearing is everything. the 330i has a 3.15 differential, in the Automatic for Example the loss through the transmission is compansated with a lower gear ratio in a 330i Auto or XI auto with a 3.64 rear diff. the 325i has a 3.73 rear in the automatic. and 40 LEss HP. my girl drives a 325 I, and I can tell you. From a Roll 5mph start, she can hang with me on my rear door till about 70-75 mph when the extra 40 HP starts to kick in for me.

TQ = Low End, HP = Top End

first, anyone who tries to take a sharp corner at 150mph is a dumbass and should not be out on the street. Second, even if you decide to commit suicide and take that corner at 150mph if you compare it to say a 350z taking the same corner at the same speed, the 330xi will still take it better than the 350z. that's the point i was trying to get at, not to tell someone to defy the laws of physics.

as for comparing your girls car and giving her a 5mph rolling start and i'm assuming you're at a standstill that's a bs comparison, when do you ever race by giving the other person a rolling start. You give just about any car w/ similar performance and in the same class ie 350z a 5mph rolling start and it'll at least keep up w/ you if not beat you.

Why compare an AWD 4dr Sedan with a 2dr sports car?

Hi Captain and buddy.
BMW is first, M3 for sure and now 335i, only WRC and therefore with rallye cars to make the challenge.
BMW also introduces a new 335i model with the new E92 3-series coupe. The 335i is powered by a 3.0 liter in-line 6 cylinder twin-turbocharged engine. The engine is also equipped with BMW’s direct injection system using electric piezo injectors. This new 335i engine makes 306hp and torque figures are a massive 400Nm of torque available from as low as 1300rpm all the way up to 5000rpm, from where the maximum torque dips until it reaches it’s redline of 7000rpm. The engine’s torque curve sounds REALLY sweet. Would love to drive one. I previously mentioned the engine will have it’s two turbos in sequential form, so I apologize for the mis-information. The twin-turbo system is actually in-line, with a turbo being fed by 3 cylinders each. Two smaller turbos alllow a much faster spooling time than 1 big turbo. The usage of forced induction allows this new 335i engine to make as much power as a normally aspirated V8 engine of a higher displacement, but weighs 70kg lighter. The engine was designed to compete against competition like the Lexus IS350 and Infiniti’s 3.5 liter offerings, as well as be a bridge between the current 3.0 liter normally aspirated engine and the 4.0 liter V8 engine to be offered with the BMW M3. This engine gives the BMW 335i Coupe a 0-100km/h speed of 5.3 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 240km/h.

shifting in general is for noobs, I smash the pedal to the metal so hard, the car superaccelerates itself to a ridiculous speed with no shifts required.

im surprised to find the 330xi to keep up w/ the 350z. first off, the xi is at a disadvantage due to the fact of its weight and simply AWD accelerates slower.

350z is a great car in terms of performance for the buck. i think it would be a great car to own if the interior didnt look like a model toy car; cheap plastic all over the place.
