Difference between M8 Comp GC and AMG GT 63S
I posted this in another unrelated thread and I guess, not surprisingly, didn't get a response.
I test drove AMG GT 63, not the S version. What does the AMG GT 63S have for interiors that the M8 Comp GC doesn't, for the $30K difference? |

I think the question can’t be answered as asked.
The price difference is not related to the interior; it’s just priced that way to differentiate the car from its lesser E63s although they share quite a bit. Overpriced IMO, yet I started to like the car over time. If anyone loves the look, I would wait for the upcoming GT73e with over 800hp. Also only the MY21 comes with MBUX instead of the outdated Comand. Given the low residual and high MF, it is a pricey car to lease. |

I currently have a '19 E63s and have been on the fence as to whether or not the extra $30-$50k is worth spending on the GT63S. It certainly is a head-turner from an exterior design perspective (compared to an E63). I'm torn as to whether to wait for the GT73 OR dare I say it, the upcoming plaid version of the model S. I will say that the M8 gran coupe comp is on the list as well.

While I can't say whether the price is justified I have to say, the interior of the GT is a nice place to be. Very luxurious and comfortable yet very supportive and grippy seats, and everything is either covered in Napa Leather, Carbon Fiber, or cold to the touch Aluminum. Not to mention the car looks really good and imposing in person. Whether the price is worth it, well... that's up to you. I imagine some deals could be had on cars that have either been sitting on the lot or will be leftovers by the next year.
(Excuse the crap iPhone photos)

Those of us who voiced our opinions were banned from various (or all) parts of the G8X forums. Of course some members were very vocal and didn't hold back, but some of us were very polite with our criticisms and didn't even mention the grills whatsoever. So those of us who were banned saw another poster change their sub-heading on their profile and then followed his lead. There's a whole 30+ page thread that the "banned members" all talk in. Anyone else get banned from the G8X section for making fun of its looks? https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1761187

Well Im glad we are able to speak freely about these cars here. I do like the GT63S and am still literally shocked that there is zero factory support yet the cars just sit. But the AMG GT cars (even the GTR) get 7500 cash in the trunk.

The Internet is full of articles about the news BMW models spotting the "huge" grill. There are plenty of well-known sites (and their reviewers) that mock (to say the least and soft.....) the new grill design on the those models! What should one do? Censor them all and/or prohibit readers from accessing them? Just google it and I do not remember anything like this for any previous BMW models even when a design wasn't appreciated. I am a 4 series fan since a long time and the grill on the new one is plain ugly and a reason for me not to consider it (if I was in the market for one). So much for that and sorry jstein55 to hear you got called for that as it's an opinion and it doesn't harm anyone or anything.

Agreed and so do I. Here on the 8-series forum posts cover the obvious namesake but there are discussions at length regarding AMGs, Porsche, etc. I've been errant on posting but your 2020 Audi R8 is amazing and your "keeper" C63 AMG Black Series is a dream car no questions asked.

Censorship is now the norm. If the platform you are making comments on has an agenda and what you say is not consistent with their agenda you get censored
It's rampant and a sad state of affairs

Just spent a bit of time on the G8X forum and surprising found this sticky from 8/3 as they obviously knew postings regarding the dislike of the new design where inevitable:

Coming from a long history with Lexus I for one did not get behind their spindle grill design when it was first launched and of course it too does tie back to their history starting as a loom manufacturer. On the first models it was introduced on in my mind it just didn't fit. However, wind the clock forward to the LC and it is a thing of beauty that integrates well with the car's overall design. So the question is whether BMW can pull that off as well considering the initial failure just like Lexus.

I'm honestly surprised that I've seen more AMG GT4D's in my area than M5's and E63's combined despite the high price and what I presume are small sales numbers, and AMG's and M cars aren't even that popular in my area. Or maybe I'm just noticing them more because they stand out in a crowd

I guess this is what the extra $30k gets you.

I saw a matte grey one the other day rolling on the freeway; what a presence vs even our beloved F90's. Edit: damn that car was fast around the ring....

Also seems like AMG is wanting to take Nurburgring crowns from Porsche First possibly the GT-R BS (although still unconfirmed) and now the GT4D.

I loved the 290+ KPH aka 180+ MPH on the final straight. That aside the looks and overall performance clearly places it on my short list 2 years from now when the M850i lease is up. You only live once and I've finally done a lease with the M850i so MF aside with MB it's a solid contender for what may be my last hurrah in the automobile world before retirement life puts me in a Honda Accord (other priorates at that point).

Yes, the M8 is on that list along with the AMG GT63S, latest gen Panamera (Turbo or GTS) and others. It took me 10 years to get to the M850i (my priorities were elsewhere vs the car world) but now I have roughly 2 years to decide if the M850i becomes buy and hold (through my buddy) or I look elsewhere. That said I have another factor in play which may seal the deal regardless, i.e., I'm still trying to get my hands on a Genus GNS1 which is an investment vs the overall depreciation debacle known as a car (doesn't matter what brand). If I close the deal on a GNS1 (there are only 8 period) and have doubled in value since the ~$300K initial price the M850i definitely becomes my keeper no questions asked. |
