Some Photos from the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam

Shot with my gf's D40 and my 10-20mm Sigma. These are all originals and unedited. Most of these shots were shot in Aperture Mode with exposure compensation adjustments.

This shot looks like something you would see in a car brouchre.

Great pictures! I'm going to Arizona in a couple weeks to visit my bro at school, and we are going to the Grand Canyon. You just got me more excited. I love the picture third from the top, and the one that is fourth from the bottom.

Thx guys. I wish I still have my D200. The D40 kind of over exposed most of the pictures so I had to adjust the exp comp to -0.7. The forth one from the bottom is my favorite too! You should have seen the original photo before I resized it. The photo is even more vivid.

The part of Grand Canyon I went to is called the West rim. It's about 2.5 hrs from Vegas. The South Rim is much better as I was told, but it is about 5 hrs from Vegas. I didn't have enough time for a 5 hr long ride so we picked the west rim instead.

The 4th from the bottom is an awesome picture. Do you have it set to Vivid + some saturation in the camera?

Bingo. Vivid mode it was. Didn't mess with any saturation though.

Yea, the whole place is a rip-off, but that's the way it goes. One of the native tribe own the entire West Rim. You can't drive out to the Canyon with your own car, they make you park your car in this parking lot and you have to buy a bus ticket. There is a Skywalk which cost an extra $30 to go on but you can't take any pictures because they said people were dropping their cameras into the canyon and on the glass floor.

We bought a package deal for $215 per person. It included the helicopter ride, a platoon boat ride and that bus ride to the canyon. You can't get to the river unless you get on the helicopter, so I think it was worth it. Also, it was our first helicopter ride!

Nice shots! Ive always wanted to do a helicopter tour of the grand canyon.

Ive done the Glen Canyon (Lake Powell) Dam tour a few times, but never made it to Hoover.
